Hi
Im just curious.. (again lol)
as to how you all stop your hose reel in the van from moving around... i have a flat tank, and i like to work from the side door,
but if i drop it in front of the tank, it gets trapped in the door when i pull it out,
and if i sit it on the tank it slides everywhere or drops in the slit in the tank centre...
thats where i would like it but how i tie it down please guys.
Gary.

I gought a couple of exhaust clamps for pennies Gazza, drilled 4 holes and clamped her down. You gotta be sure you're not drilling into anything you don't want to like fuel tanks and spare tyres ::)

I've clamped mine to a 4ftx2ft piece of chipboard.
Spreads the weight, and it doesn't slide around.
If it did, it can't move far, it's almost as wide as where it's sat.

I had a crappy Hozereel that could be wall mounted. I kept the brackets and dumped the reel. They have a simple release catch so you can take your reel out whenever you want. I mounted it to the floor near the back door.

I bought some water pipe clamps frpm B&Q only a couple of quid for 10 and my Metal hose reel snaps into this and i can snap it in and out easily, these hold it very steady in the van and doesn`t move, it only has 1 screw through it, i have mine screwed into the floor for using the rear door but these are superb for holding it in the van

Screw an appropriate piece of external plywood to the floor and attach reel via brackets ( round ones that secure plumbing pies to the wall) or, simply create, by same ply, a long canal shaped opening sufficiently wide enough to slide the hose reel legs into and then place another piece of ply over the canal to form a bridge. The overall result will have the reel enclosed entirely by the ply. Difficult to explain- hope you understand.

not thought of getting a bigger van ??? as look a little cramped

All our hose reels are bolted either to the floor (100m microbore) or to the ceiling for the smaller 60m hose reel.

Thanks once again for your replies,
i do need to put the reel on top of flat tank tho,.. as its useless for side doors on the floor...
i think i have sussed it,
i will use the narrow slit in the middle of the tank, and put something like a flat piece of wood on top and a leg into the slit joined together.... and screw my reel to that. ::) ;D
