As my employee numbers increase, I find I am increasingly struggling to schedule workloads effectively. What i need is some software that tells me when I enter new jobs where the nearest existing job is (hope that makes sense), currently a lot of time is wasted on the road. I know that there is a couple of American tools available, just wondered what everyone else used, if at all.

How much does it cost (if you dont mind me asking)?
Do you use the map scheduling option that guides you to the nearest job? If so is it any good?

Looked at this some time ago. I can't remember if you had to first fill in the enquiry page before getting a quote. Did obtain a quote of approx £1500 +VAT about a year ago

HI,
I use Lotus organiser. It's basically an computer filofax with a good appointment system. Each employee has a new appointment section and it recurrs to whatever frequency you want it to.

I bought it 4yrs ago, and I also said ouch, but did not pay the price you have just quoted like every thing these days prices increase I still say its worth the investment, Lesley

Having come from the electronics and software industry, you are on a bit of a mission here. The software companies will understand that you want to track people and make a profit out of them. Therefore, the software houses want a slice of that. You are likely to have to pay a lot of money for it. Outlook is good but doesn't work for a lot of people. Lotus is the same and would suggest you search on freeware or shareware, you may come up with something that is useful. However, make sure you can do a try before you buy, some software is useless and some really works.

I use CEO for everything from running my payroll, scheduling jobs and appointments it has a diary and a reminder, I can run all the reports you can think of Financial,
Scheduling, advertising, has a map point , does time sheets, stock control, the list is endless, I have all the information I need in one place, it was a good investment for me, and Im more than happy with it,and I get ongoing support and upgrades from CEO.. lesley

ServiceCEO i would agree is good but for the small business may appear costly.
Try exploring other packages like Qxpress, Schedule manager or Availsuite. I believe some may have monthly rental options.
