Title: Microbore or Minibore?
Post by: Pj on September 20, 2007, 06:05:20 pm
Microbore hose 6mm id. or Minibore 8mm id.

Which one do you think is best and why?

I use Minibore 8mm id. 100m which is coming up for replacement soon, I'm just reconsidering what best to go for with 75 psi sureflo pump & varistream.

Unfortunately cant compare the two,  but bought a microbore hose 100 mtrs. from cleantech and have had absolutely no probs and have the same setup as you.
I reckon the only real advantage would be the smaller diameter, making it easier to get on and off your hose reel and also taking up less space on the hose drum.

I cant compare either but i use microbore with about 80 mtrs from Gardiners. I also have 100 psi pump & varistream, no problems.

I'll stick my big nose in as usual :D

No experience of either, but i've never seen a post from a mini-bore user having problems but i've seen loads with micro-bore.

Thanks for input guys.

Does microbore curl and twist up on itself?

I find that minibore does a bit more than 1/2" used to.  I just wondered if the narrow gauge hose winding back on the reel would twist a lot....or not..?

Although microbore is only slightly smaller than minibore it does twist up a bit more on domestic work but nothing to worry about,i found it got caught up on york stone more than the minibore.

Ridicule me if you want but i'm still using 1/2" hozelok anti-kink i bought 3.1/2 years ago! :-[ got to give it credit mind, it doesn't kink, it's been run over by tractors, hgv's the lot & is still as good as new. I will change to mini-bore soon cos' the hozelok weighs a ton & gets snagged on everything.

I use minibore and microbore.
I use 60psi pumps and the minibore seems to me to be perfect.
The microbore didn't always give me enough pressure.

But if where to have 100psi pumps i would probably use microbore.
