Neil,

Can't understand what your argument is and why you are comparing it to the Prowler and not all TM's.

I agree the generator will allow you to run your portable at whatever it'ss performance limitations are, however you will still need to find a water source for it though.

As I understand it the benefit of the Prowler, or any other TM is not just that you no longer require a power source but that you are supposedly taking the limitations of your portable to a new level, ie, more power, more vacuum, with no need to stop to refill and empty.

I'm a porty user and have previously looked at generators of these output, however all the ones I have viewed of a reasonable quality have been £1000+.

This one from Aldi looks like a bargain, but how reliable is it?

As a comparison, I have a pressure washer that I bought new from ebay for a bargain price, it's a chinese honda copy import.  It ran ok for a couple of months but now it's sat at the back of the garage with a u/s pump and nowhere to get parts for it.  I now have a Honda GX390 13Hp pressure washer that runs all day without a hiccup.

You get what you pay for.

I think what he means is that it has an engine, a frame and a set of wheels. If only all things in life were that simplistic. Prowlers are made in Texas by engineers in a bespoke manufacturing facility as seen here: http://www.amtexequipment.com/index-2.html

The end cost has to take into account all the overheads, marketing, transport etc, etc of both the manufacturers and distributors, do you think all that comes cheap.
Aldi and the like search the spot markets of the world for stock which they can virtually give away in their stores in order to get people through the doors. Thats why its only ever available on a certain day or for a limited period.

I have a Protimeter moisture meter which probably costs about £20 to manufacture in China. It cost me 600 quid. Am I bothered, am I b******s it has earned me thousands of pounds.

It costs 3 times as much as that genny just for delivery to the UK for starters.

John, why don't you have a picture like that one your website rather than a postage stamp sized detailess one?

Bound to stir more interest in the product. Although I guess if Steve's going to do that for you anyway no need to bother ;D

Are you seriously comparing a domestic low power generator with a cloned engine to the prowler? Its like comparing a chicken to an elephant!
They just aren't the same beast at all. I doubt that generator would provide enough juice to run even a modest porty, and definitely not enough for a heater too,.. but even if it did, the prowler cannot be compared to any electric porty!
You comparison is just a bit stupid,.. no offence intended!

Steve,

I hope you get some commission on all the extra orders.

It reminds me of when I look through glossy car mags, suddenly you have the urge you've just got to have one. Or is that a little too sad.

Also lets talk benefits, not just technical gumph. When I think truckmount I just think faster cleaning to get more £££.

Serious question-

What else will it do for me to make me more money?

Any t/m will increase productivity thus make you more money. You won't have to spend as much money buying one.

I don't get comission  ::) I'm just so pleased with the machine that I let you guys who are thinking about upgrading the opportunity to see the machine from different angles.

Just joshing Steve, I know you make the forum aware of lots of good products/offers you find, great.

I was wondering if the prowler would be good for patio cleaning or anything else so it will allow you to add more services.

Mike, I'm always of the opinion that although many truckmounts are capable of being used for pressure washing, it doesn't make sense to put the extra strain on the aditional components such as the heat exchangers etc. Much better and cost effective to buy a seperate pressure washer and use that for the drive jobs.

John! what does a Prowler weigh? and what are its dimentions ? what is the smallest van it will go into ? I have two vans a nissan Cargo and a Vauxhall combo, but for economy reasons I use the combo more would the Prowler fit into a combo or is that pushing it a little
Title: Re: Question No2

Stuart

I seem to remember John saying in a previous thread that the smallest would be something like a despatch/expert.

I have a Combo and wondered the same thing.

To digress slightly, I was looking at those Nissan Cargos are they any good.

Stuart, the Prowler weighs 198 kilos. It would be no good for a combo. You'd get it in but would have no room for a water tank, hoses etc. They fit well in a midi size van. Nick Holman had his in a Scudo at first but has upgraded to a Nissan Primastar LWB.
Title: Re: Question No2
Post by: stuart_clark on September 30, 2007, 05:10:49 pm
Mike! the nissan van is fine and is very reliable but crap as far as economy is concearned, think it gets someware in the region of 28mpg the combo on the other hand gets over 55mpg thats why i thought of the possibility of a prowler in it, I will have to re think my options, I work all over the north east so need a van that gets at least 40 mpg, i had a vivaro and a vw transporter a couple of weeks ago the vauxhall did 36mpg but the vw struggled to get that, mind you the vw wasn't new,

John what is the differance between the red and the black Prpwler ?
Title: Re: Question No2
Post by: David_Annable on September 30, 2007, 05:47:35 pm
Hi

The first prowlers used a honda 13hp honda engine, they are allways red so red prowler.

The later ones use the Kholer engines which are allways black, hence black prowler.

There may be other differences!

Dave

As David says it just depends on the engine used. Everything else is the same. The photo posted is of the 15hp not the standard Prowler.
