Before sending out a letter explaining wfp,

are most of the customers out? if so why upset them and get them to check your work everytime
2 would it be better to explain as and when the need arises?

if not letter was just a thought.

I am designing a new site to stop this problem in the future  ;)

What happens when the customer comes home after a first clean to possibly find a few spots and runs?? I personally find it alot easier being up front from the start with new and taken over customers!!

Niceandclean possibly? I am always upfront with everyone customers m8's etc, I am always make it cleaer to a customer if they ever have a problem with my window cleaning to call me and I will be straight back to fix it. I can see a letter opening up alot of problems with people thinking stick and water to clean my house (you need washing up liquid and a sponge) I was talking to a customer today about wfp and the look on his face was a picture, I said you look baffled he said i am I spent about half an hour explaining everything hes over the moon, I said there maybe a few problems at the start his reply to that was I know you always do the best you can, if you think it will work I trust what your saying.

Now i could have not bothered saying anything at all and a letter IMO is asking for trouble, I could be very wrong here so please dont bully me ;D it just IMO

why will there be spots?

ive never had a problem, just expect not to earn as much and take your time, you only have runs when you dont do a proper job take your time scrub well and rinse

why create a problem?

Have agree with Alex, sending a letter could very easy costs you alot, many people do not like change and can see this would cause alot of hassle that could easy be avoided.

Everyone does it differently. I have never spent half an hour explaining wfp to a customer. I tell them the basics and give them an explination letter, and that includes the oldies. To be honest Ian, where we are from, most customers have seen or heard of wfp,  nurses and doctors from the local hospitals, company execs from the science and business parks ect ect, so i really dont think you are going to have too much of a problem on change over. Even if my customers are not in, i leave a explination letter. To be honest my canvassers explain the way the system works when they sign up new customers and leave them one of my explination letters in most cases. The thing is, alot of people seem scared to tell thier existing customers of this fantastic, not so new way of cleaning. I did not loose one customer on the change over from trad to wfp, and i have not lost a customer to the way wfp cleans. But its up to you on how you on how you run your business, they are, after all your customers, not mine.  :)

Possibly may have a few spots i said. I dont hang around to see how they dry up!!! I can honestly say i have on first cleans been told that on the second clean that one or two panes had a couple of spots, but we expected this as your letter explained it. As i said, its up to you how you do it, your customers.

Niceandclean I think you are in Cambridge arent you? Me too, I have not changed over yet and I am talking everything in like a sponge at the moment. I am replying as I want others to add their opinions aswell, I always say what I think, I'm not always right.
I may well use a letter, I can see it causing problems myself hence my replies so far but you never know the replies on here will help me decide one way or the other. please reply again as you do make sence  ;)
the half hour I spent today was because I was not working, just popped in for a chat with the guy, I would not do that on every house or I would spend weeks doing it. I just want to get a feel of what people think and check back on here and see what others say.

Yeah im in Cambridge, thats why i said that i dont think you will have any or many problems on change over as i didnt. I would say 60-70% of my customers had either seen it or heard of wfp, but depends on what type of customers you have.  Its all about educating your customers, only you know the best way of doing that. Im only telling you how i have done/do it, but everybody does it differently, its about using and doing what you feel is best for you.

if they say they was a bit dirty apologize explain move on

but majority wont spot at all,  if they are clean, from being done previous then not going to be dirty frames etc, just some soap, and i havnt noticed that to  be a problem,

who cares if they don't like it, though bananas,

I am still swaying the attitude Alex has, I can see the point of a letter, but i can also see the negatibe points to it that many on here may well never think of.

Each to their own i suppose but i think you're better off not explaining anything unless asked. I had several sceptical customers out of which i lost 4 and passed another 3 over. They were fine until they saw it in action.
The windows aren't dry.
The sills haven't been cleaned (when they meant wet).
I've left them smeared.
The solution will damage my flowers. ??
There's water EVERYWHERE.
It's going to leave water marks on the windows.
I'm only using the system because it's quicker.
They didn't like the windows being cleaned this way instead of trad. (Fair play for being honest).
Your brush has worn a hole in my conservatory roof and it's leaked in the rain we've had recently. I thought this was a potential claim. But no. She got embarassed when i laughed. Since dumped.

A couple had legitimate complaints i'm sure, but they didn't want me to come back to check and possibly reclean affected areas.
When i take on new work now i tell them i don't dry the windows as they will dry mark free. I avoid the term 'de-ionized' and call it soft or distilled water.
I don't take the cash and leave on 1st cleans, telling them i will come back later for the cash after i have checked the results. Or if they're not home to send me a cheque.
I also tell them for now and future reference that if they are less than 100% happy with any clean to call me and let me know. I tell them it will help me to refine my skill if they can do this.
Once a window comes up clean the 1st time it will come up good all the time, so i don't need to go back on subsequent cleans if they are good 1st time.
Maybe i exude a confidence which i didn't when i started wfp, but i have had only 1 cancellation after 4-6 weeks since i started wfp. Though i still get new customers who are sceptical about the system.

Guarantee your work, let them see the results of dried windows before getting paid and customers will be pleasantly suprised.
All they want are cleaned windows at the end of the day. Too much information gives too much room for confusion in my opinion.
