Title: Hourly rate
Post by: Janey on September 19, 2007, 10:03:18 pm
Hi,
Im new here.  Just wondered what most of you guys charge per hour for general office cleaning.  I want to be competitive but not price myself out of the market or be too cheap! Does anyone have much hassle with staff? have difficulty finding good people?
Thanks.

Janey

I will never get rich in it. I work on my own doing all the work myself. That seriously narrows down what i can do and so it pays me my salary and thats it. But the other side is that i dont get too much hassle and i have no staff worries.

You are da mn right that cleaning is hard work.......its a catch 22 (in my opinion) for anyone who runs a cleaning service as you can't afford to pay a lot in wages but then again can you expect a lot from the staff in return? I take my hat off to anyone who employs staff....

Hi Stephen

Sounds like you are doing exactly the same as me.  Do you clean offices, domestic or both?. Im toying with the idea of taking on staff but i know they just wont do the job properly! this i know through bitter experience, dont want to risk losing my contracts, which has happened before :'(

I guess we can make a really good living out of this, im just greedy and want a mercedes !  ;D  I agree with you, imagine the hassle the bigger companies must have with staff, ugh! Oh maybe i will stay on my own ::) I love these little faces !

Take care

hey chris

I'm thinking small.....i'm staying small, your advice is quite correct.

I have a small house with small mortage, a small car with a small loan, i even have very small minded parents  ;D

I like small  ;)

Ha Ha :D

Trouble is i have a big house, big mortgage and expensive tastes so i need to be bigger, i think big but im still small, the biggest problem is getting staff that will do as good a job as i do.  The mistake ive made in the past is employing my friends, they dont stay friends for very long!  ;D

LOL

I think if the only problem with staff -according to what i've read on here- was that they didnt do a very good job then we'd all be laffing as i think that can be corrected quite easily.

I think its all the other stuff that causes problems. I once had a lady help me for a few hours a week and it lasted a month. In those 4 short weeks i learnt so much. First time she rang me sick i thought i was gonna have a heart attack.

By the second time i realised that this just wasnt for me  ;D

When my clients -who i adore- started getting a tad grumpy that having two people in the house upset the routine as they liked it when i was alone, then i knew for sure.

As i said, i can cope with thinking small  ;D
