Title: Super-Lite2 Endurance Testing
Post by: Alex Gardiner on September 18, 2007, 06:10:24 pm
Hi Guys and Gals,

Thought you might like to see these 2 videos of the new Super-Lite2 being put through it's paces. Please note the methodical and scientific methods used to test the strength and robustness of the new Super-Lite2. Also note the laboratory type conditions used for these tests. ;D

These can be seen by clicking on this link below

They use it on f1 cars, strength being the main thing coupled with the light weight of it.

Hi NWH,

It comes with the current Super-Lite (Bentley) brush. The new Super-Lite brush will be out soon and all who purchase the new Super-Lite2 package will be offered a cost price upgrade to it.

Hi,

The section that was used for these 'scientific tests'! was the No. 5 section (5th section down) there are 2 more sections down No. 6 section and the extension sections. It weighs about 240g and is a standard production section (minus Logo). All of the sections are equally as strong.

Alex

You are quite famous, i spoke to a guy with a light blue van , forgot his name, says he works with you occassionally.

also spoke to another guy, I think he said he was Julius brother in law.

Small world

p.s.  If it was a full scientific test, should you not test your other poles the same way.

Dave

Dave do you know Julius as I meet him about a year and a half ago he was on holliday
in monmouth.

Alex this pole seems to be far stronger than the mk1 supper light.

I don't know what's going on Alex but I can never see any pictures you post.  Also, I can never access any part of your website - including links that you post.  I have now tried three different browsers IE 6, Netscape, and Opera) so it's unlikely to be browser settings.  I can access every other site I need to and it seems that everyone else can access your site.
This is really bizarre.  The only logical conclusion I can come to is that there is something actually on my hard drive causing a problem - maybe a cookie or something.  Does your site use cookies Alex?  I've tried changing my privacy and security settings to the lowest possible and I've even tried temporarily disabling the firewall.

This is very weird.

Roy

It is a lot stronger than the original Super-Lite, it's all down to improved carbon-fibre weave.

I have no spare top sections of the finished article to show how strong they are. The first shipment is coming in from the factory on Monday, so I may be able to show something then. In my own un-videoed testing I have repeatedly smashed a top section with a lump hammer and watched it just 'bounce' off. When I managed to eventually put a split in it, I then fitted it to the top of a pole and was still able to fully use it due to it's inherent structural strength.

so Alex are all the sections as strong as the one the video? Luke
Title: Re: Super-Lite2 Endurance Testing
Post by: Alex Gardiner on September 19, 2007, 07:57:59 pm
Hi Luke

The top section has even more knock-resistant walls than the section tested in the video.  This is due to the fact that this section tends to receive more knocks against window sills, frames, etc.  The section tested was a No:5 section.  Sections 4,3 and 2 have the same wall strength as Section 5.  Section 6 (last section on a SL-35) and the extension sections are in fact quite a bit stronger than the section tested in the video (No:5).

Alex is there any telescoic version coming out? We have been using carbon fising poles but have lately switched back to telescopic poles as they are easier and faster to use.

Section 1 is the top section, mentioned earlier.

Speed of use does depend on the type of work you are using it for.  On commercial work I know that I am much quicker with a modular Super-Lite than any telescopic pole.  On domestic work, I would agree that a telescopic does offer greater ease of use.  We do have a telescopic Super-Lite in development (we have been using the first prototype for five months now) and they should be available for retail sales by the end of this year.
