Title: You Squirted water halfway across my living room.
Post by: NWH on September 17, 2007, 09:48:35 pm
I had a customer today tell me that i had squirted water through her window`s and halfway across her living room carpet, they were oldish window`s but were in good condition. These window`s come up spotless and she has never complained before, she went on to say that she wanted me to all the window`s trad way from now on after calling my WFP a jet washer.Since using WFP on this house it has shaved 20mins off the time and i think the cleaning lady has told her this,it`s a reasonable payer but quiet dodgy in places on york stone, since going WFP i`ve noticed some of these cleaning ladies getting a bit jealous about the time saving.

Have a word in their ears and say "get over it" I would say to the customer you can do trad cleaning but the price would have to go up as the saftey factor is now an issue, if she does not like it move on. ;)

Stick to your guns here,.. its not worth the risk getting out the ladders where there is a (Better) alternative.

I`ve cleaned her window`s about 10 times WFP at least and have never had a complaint, her husband even sits in his office and watches me working and then comes out and pays me.I reckon it`s cos it`s so much quicker than before.

Basically, she has given you an ultimatum. The choice is simple-you either do what she wants or you decide not to. First I would try to find out how the water got through to the living room but it can happen.
The thing is that now you have got to a situation where there is bad feeling it is very hard, if not impossible, to undo the damage.

I`ve had water go through a drip a bit on the window sills inside but half way across the living room,i also made sure to stay clear of the gaps as i know there flimsy window`s.The main thing that annoyed me was that i`ve used the pole loads of times with no complaints.

Just do it and then sit in the van for a few minutes reading the paper and having a drink, then collect it. ;)

Then it won't seem so quick to her.
Have a break, then say you've finished.

That's what I do, and Ian told me he does the same on some.
Some seem so quick now that it's embarassing.
I hide in the van for few minutes, the they're fine. ;D

I've had the cleaning lady thing. They have a relationship where they are semi friends with the client, and also I'm doing the ironing for seven pounds an hour why should you let him get away with that.

Didn't you post that you lost your best paying job to exactly this squeaky. The sitting in the van strat didn't work then.

I find that grabbing a clean sill towel and giving the down-stairs sills and frames a quick wipe over works a treat - especially now that the spiders webs and daddy-long-legs are about.  It means I can double check any important windows and spend an extra minute at the property before asking for my 'fee' :)

I also find it helps keep some of the webs off the brush-head as I don't brush the down-stairs sills!!!

Just tell her the carpet clean was free for being such loyal  customers, and if they would like to leave there windows open in the future they could sack there cleaner and you could do it for free. ;D ;D
P.S. pure water will not stain curtains or carpets.

yes many times, but I am always upfront with what i charge so if i can do it quicker it's a bonus, done quite a few jobs and got the price wrong, so swings and roundabouts I guess  ;)
