Title: Using / Harvesting Rainwater
Post by: L.Doubtfire - The Blade Runner on September 16, 2007, 02:50:48 pm

Would all the people on the forum who use untreated rainwater in their systems
Be prepared to come forward and make themselves known? The reason I ask is
Because I myself up to a couple of months ago was an avid user of nothing else.
I thought my RO would be permantantly redundant! The softer untreated water
I found was a distinct advantage over water going thru` my RO.Where I did get
Some `spots` with water thru` my RO at 000ppm on some `problem` glass,it did`nt
Happen with untreated rainwater.I was using rainwater at approx. 5 to 8 ppm. Then
For no apparent reason my troubles began.Midges, flys, insects by the bucket load.
Oaky I filter thru` aquarium wool,no problem,tds up 15ppm.! This last 2 months I`ve
Been back to my RO for my water with the thought of going back to rainwater when
The autumn time is here and less insects about. Also I can cut my neighbours plum tree that’s half hanging over my `collecting roof`.Would also like to know if its true
That aeroplanes empty their toilets while on their route/flight path, bird mess and smoke pollution is bad enough, but after aeroplanes enough just might be enough for me.C`mon fella`s keep me going,I need some convincing after this !

I'm hoping to setup rainwater harvesting soon (Once I've moved house in about 4 weeks),.. but whatever the TDS is, even if it's 000,.. Ill still run it through a DI cylinder before use, just to be sure.

lewis, aircraft store al the toilet stuff, and is emtyed by machines on land,  the best way to collect pure rain water is by umberella systems, not from roofs or anywhere else, 99% you will find it will be 100%
pure, using an umberella catching method, simular to this lewis,

lewis, i have just emailed them, asking if they have anyone in the  uk who sells the rain catchers on there behalve,
i think this would be a good opertunity for a wfp supplier to buy and sell them,
