Title: Is wfp good?
Post by: visiontechnician on September 15, 2007, 04:16:43 pm
Hi all,

My first post so go easy on me!

I have been trad for 1 year now.

I'm really getting bored of going up and down ladders all day long!

Thinking of switching to the water on a stick method. Is it good/quicker.

Any pros and cons?

Regards,

tech

Its better all round. Check out the other posts and you will get the picture. We have been through this question many times over. Best advice is to do a look back and get a feel of things for yourself. Oh and good luck, this was me a while back and now I would never go back to ladders but I still trad some windows to keep my hand in.

all depends on the tds of your mains supply,if it has a low tds then you may get away with useing a di system only, but chances are you will be better off useing both, use an ro to get the tds right down, and then through a di to make sure your tds stays at 000
this is probably the cheapest way too,as the di resin will last for a very long time if water has been through an ro first

I was going to go with the unger 3 section which i have already.

Would maybe buy the other 2 sections to add on.

Whats the facelift?

I have been told that extender poles are good and a reasonable price?

I just read in another post about the tucker pole.

Someone said the 44ft tucker is as light as a good carbon pole and is a lot cheaper!

One thing i have found in my research is that carbon poles are very expensive.

Is the tucker pole expensive?

Facelift is a manufacturer of poles they make a very good carbon fibre pole that has easy removable sections so you can use as an 18/24ft pole or with all sections 34/45ft pole a good light rigid all round pole although the brush it comes with is pants for residential use
Oh and another thing its expensive but you do get what you pay for ...over to macmac ;)

Im really confused about wfp... I just cant see how you canm get work done faster?

Question : You have a road with 60 houses .. its more or less 1 after the other and on both sides of the road...
I know doing this trad with 2men would be eazy in a day
... but i cant see how doing it out the back of a van with pipes and everything all over the place would be faster ... you would have to keep movin the van?? even if you used a backpack u have to keep filling the b1tch up?  Have i missed something whilst reading through the forum about wfp

Thanks

Neil

If WFP is slower for any WC they have the wrong type of work, for the odd job i do use ladders but most of my houses are large and with  WFP it takes half the time it used to with ladders,at least half the time.I do a number of houses that used to take 3 of us 2.5 hours,i can now do it on my own in 1.5 hours. The safty is a bonus the more work you can do with WFP is surprising over the course of a week-month,the real difference is seen in time saving after using it for about a year, forget all the rubbish people telling you that after a month you`ll be doing a months work in 2weeks cos you wont be,but that would be possible after you have a years experience under your belt.

For maintenance type cleans it's great. For filthy minging first cleans it can be impressive but takes frigging ages to get a perfect clean - but I am fussy. I probably have never managed a perfect clean yet in seven months.

WFP is a great tool and is quicker on most jobs but not all.

I think myself traditional is better and you don't get any problems with a squeegie apart from the odd rubber.

But you are able to earn more money with WFP and a lot more grief.

And yes i am WFP and no i would not go back to traditional.

wfp really comes into it's own the larger the property. Even on smaller houses with conservatories you can squeeze a quid or 2 extra just by doing the windows above that coudn't be done with ladders.
It allows you to maximise the earning potential of every job.
Underneath of gutters, fascia boards and soffits and conservatory roofs are all possible to do very easily and from the safety of the ground.
