stain shield is used neat isn't it?

No stainsheild is mixed at 4 to 1 thats 4 litres of water to 1 litre of concentrate on freshly cleaned carpets or 500 ml to 4 litres of water to dry or new carpets unless its the all fabric stainsheied you are talking about which is a solvent for fabric only and then you would obviously use it as it comes

your right Stuart, I was thinking of upholstery

Pete Iam a licenced holder for Chemspec stainshield proffesional, but having used many of litres of the stuff and Chemspec normal protector stainshiels concentrate imo that there is no differance apart from a fancy name and the price !!

Chemspec Stainshield is a highly regarded product that users say performs very well. Chemspec Stainshield professional and Chemspec Enviroshield have a higher percentage active ingredients which makes it more durable. From memory, I think there's about 10% difference between the two which makes the Professional/Enviroshield one of, if not the, most durable in the industry.
I remember on my early years Prochem training that they demonstrated some carpet samples that had been treated with products X,Y and Z and the protectors could be "abraided off" with your hand.
Safe and happy cleaning:)
