Title: Citreon Vans Pulling Power
Post by: redial on September 14, 2007, 09:31:09 pm
Berlingo 1.9 with 800kg payload v Dispatch 1.9 with 815kg payload.

The berlingo has a kerb weight of 1185kg, the dispatch  kerb weight 1390kg
with only a 15kg bigger payload, if both are fully loaded the berlingo is nearly 200kg lighter so is constantly pulling less weight uphill and from standing starts etc.

Does this give the berlingo a 200kg edge with pulling power over the dispatch when both are fully loaded or am I missing something ?

Both are equally sluggish if you go for the non turbo version.

Thats what I am trying to find out, are they equally sluggish - with one being 200kg lighter I thought it should have a bit more poke.

Are all 1.9 -2.0 non turbo's considered sluggish ?

your pulling power will allways be crap in a van

you need a sports car to go out on the pull  :P :P

my hdi dispatch with 107000 on clock and 3-400 ltrs and kit on board pulls very well. I dont drive it hard but it goes very well.

The Dispatch is slightly more versatile than the Berlingo with a bigger cargo area - 4.0cm as apposed to 2.7cm (without folding front seat considered) and 3 front seats as apposed to 2.
The Dispatch would also carry your poles slightly more easily and has better access with twin rear sliding doors.

Hi,

I understand that the dispatch is bigger with more room etc and that the turbo version of either van would be first choice - what I would like to find out is,

that if space was not a problem would the basic 1.9d berlingo do a better job of pulling 800kg than the basic 1.9d dispatch.

As the berlingo would be 200kg lighter would that make a big difference or -- none that you would really notice.

I drive a pug Partner and a Fiat Scudo,... basically the same 2 vans with different badges. The partner is smaller and lighter with the same engine,... but its just as slow!
