Title: unbelievable - warning
Post by: LWC on September 14, 2007, 07:54:37 pm
i know we've heard of ebay scams, but had this yesterday through my website

"Hello,
I was browsing through the internet when i saw your ad.I need a window cleaner in my mum house for the household work. give me the cost price per window and i have about 6windows in house  .  let me know If you are interested in this job and get back to me with your details.

full name..

address...

phone number...

amount per each  window"

i thought it was odd so i replied,

" Hello Tom

Where is your mum's house. Its easier if I come and look at the windows to give you a exact price. If I say a rough price over the internet it may be too much or too little.

If you want me to give you a ring please forward me your telephone number.

Many Thanks

Matthew Saxon
Ladderless Window Cleaner"

and then get this.

"Hi Matt,
my mum live in uk. may i know where you locate  to know how to proceed with the job and i am not in town at the moment am on a business trip to germany.the windows are clean two month ago but i dont like the way the perosn handle the job the last time.  i look forward to hearing from you asap.

regards
laural."

what on earth is he going to gain from this. ebay can scam for money, but huhhhhhhh????????? not good

email address is trinity_laural@yahoo.com. steer clear

I expect he'll want your bank details to pay directly into your bank, or how I see it, TO EMPTY IT :o

IMO Foreign migrant workers will bring down rates for window cleaning.

he will ask for your bank details and then try to get money

just go along with it, give him a made up address and give him some random numbers for your bank details

just string them along for a while, its a laugh

why do they bother though, if they were to ask for bank account details, as if we'd give em!

like fonejacker on 4 "good evening madame, i just need you account number and sort code"

i thought it was dodge when i read it. they could at least learn to spell properly. and then just give it away by telling me your away on a buisness trip...yeh right mate, good one

If you was to give your account number and sort code...
They still could not get money out.....Only put it in...?

I think anyway

If anyone sets up a direct debit you are covered and the bank can get the money back, they can take any amount they want but you have full protection but will take up to 28 days to get the money back I think ;)
