Hi,
Have just secured quite a large client, part of the NHS and i am looking to purchase a new machine.
Have almost been sold a Prochem Steempro 2000 PowerMax, i don't generally use prochem machines, mostly Truvox and Karcher so can anyone give any advice on this?
Cheers Guys

I would take the prochem ahead of either the Karcher or Truvox any day. The model you mentioned is a decent machine and i would say as an owner of a prochem machine it would prove to be very reliable, saying that if you are talking about buying new then there are a few machines on the market at a similar price i would prefer, The relatively low PSI on the prochem range is a bit of a let down.

Hi Scott
The Powermax is a very popular machine and extremely quiet in use. As good as Truvox and Karcher are (and we sell them all), they're not as good as the Prochem.
This sort of question is likely to get a number of different replies from members who prefer other makes as well.
Whatever you decide. please bear us in mind for a quote

I have a Powermax and its a very good machine the only problems that I have come across are.
1 It only takes 3 and a 1/2 buckets of water to fill so if you have large areas to clean them you are forever filling up. ( the Powerplus is Larger)
2 The next thing is when I do fill the machine with water it always spills down the front of the machine onto the carpet, no matter how carefully I try to fill the machine up.
3 It dosn't have a heater although you can fit a heat exchanger or an in-line heater which I have done, but that has cost me an extra £700.
Don't know why Prochem can't built a machine with a varable heater and solution pump already built into the machine. Apart from the odvious that they want to get as much money out of us possible.

(dosnt matter how much water it takes to fill you still need to fetch and carry the amount of water you need for the job waiting for it to heat up isnt a problem with heat exchanger too because it is instant)

(place drop sheet underneath machine)

(i picked up an ashby portable steam mate 3 months old for £225 no vat) (cheers malc!)

Cant comments on machine but what type of bucket are you using? Also concur with Lee drop sheet in any case!

I was using builders buckets with a pouring spout, being using them for years and had no problems, anyway I've ordered some from Prochem will see if they work any better.

what I was trying to say was why not have a machine which has a heater already fitted like their steameasy 400 use to have. Its also cuts down on what you have to carry about. ;)

If its a big NHS contract worth £1000's buy a TM.
Dont fanny about with a portable.

Scott, As i said in my earlier post, i would get something other than a prochem machine. These machines would be either a recoil 3 or an Eclipse, both machines have far better vacuum power with 3 vac motors not 2, much more psi which you would benefit from and they have bigger solution tanks. If its a portable that you need may as well get the best now rather than regret it when its too late.

Who supplies the Eclipse in this country? and do you know what the price is?

Having just secured quite a large client a part if whatever dose not mean they need a TM. When they, only need to clean the entrance mat, but it would be quicker.

i know what you mean regarding a built in heater element but on large commercial jobs i always use the steam mate because it save time on waitng for machine to warm up fully (sometimes im still waiting for it when i have presprayed and agitated) with the steam mate as you know it is nearly instant
didnt mean it to sound sarcastic sorry

Have you burnt youself with it yet, I have, went to grap the handle and the side of my hand touched the connecter where the hose fits into. Quite a big burn so be careful.

burnt myself with it once (never again!!) :-[
I did have a problem when i picked wand up (after leaving it 5 mins) right near the quick connect on the wand the solution pipe decieded to give way
it shot out the built up steam ( I presume it was something to do with the extra pressure building up)
well i have never moved so fast in all of my life it was a very scary moment but i emerged unscathed :P
