Post by: john tomkins on September 08, 2007, 11:24:17 pm
Just used search for something and there was a post from Pylofm with a "guest" account,

How do you leave? I would have thought that even if you stopped using the forum you would still be registered.

IMO you have to have quite thick skin on any forum window cleaning ones even thicker (we are a funny old bunch lol) as everyone has got an opinion some  will not like and some we will.

One thing I have to say is I think it is Fantastic even VG makes me smile  ;)

Shame, I liked reading Pylofm's posts since January. He's tried really hard to set up his business. There are one or two arrogant posters on here unfortunately but thats life I guess. :-[

Not pointing a finger at anyone. Some people come on here after a couple of beers and go a bit over the top. Others tend to try and ram their "advice" down your throat and get upset when you don't do what they advise. Most on here are learning the trade and I think it's natural to loose a little interest in the forum after a while.

Its bad though if banter gets to the point where someone actually leaves over something thats been said. I notice with some concern that the discussion was again about money. Nobody ever gets heated in the same way about any other topic. Enough said?

yes i agree. money is a touchy subject.
Maybe i'm a bit naive but i haven't read any posts that have left me feeling that it is a load of bull. I'm sure it's all possible. Just not to me, at this moment in time.
I've learnt and still learn loads from the forums and it's well worth acquiring a thick skin if it's gonna improve the bottom line, or make life easier.
It's a pity he's gone though.

I find it strange that someone would take anything personaly that was posted on this forum. i, myself are sometimes quite blunt when i have a point to make & so are others with their replies, so what.
I think we all respect each other, we all have our own views & our own preferences & techniques. It's usualy with a good bit of (sometimes heated) banter that we get to see so many different opinions, thus, after reading them all we can make our mind up on the advise given.
Another point is that our oppinions change with experience
For example ( a while ago)
A member with no wfp experience at all just recieved his new pole, big heavy fibreglass thing & went on to say how good it was & recommend it to others.
By now he will know how crap it is & if not already, will be looking for a real pole.
So it's also important to take into consideration a person's experience, give your honest advice, if they listen, good, if not, who cares.
It's just a forum which requires each user to pick out & use the proper advice.
nothing should be taken personaly.
So go on, try me, hurl abuse at me, be down right rude, i can take it ;D

Cheers Stuart I don't miss much but that one passed my by, obviously him going to "guest" stops you looking at his last post, like davew says I too enjoyed his posts/stats as we both started within a few weeks of each other.

Looks like he got the hump when I suggested he avoided reading posters who said things he doesn't like.  To get upset about seems to take some doing but I imagine it takes all sorts.

I think he was feeling down cos he'd posted about a member on here not delivering goods he'd been paid for and not answering emails etc.
I would like to know if he ever got that sorted 'cos it did appear he was being fobbed off.
