Well that's it for window cleaning until Monday week. I do a 6 week circuit. Six weeks ago I was away on holiday. I pulled some work forward a bit and some other work I delayed till after I got back. Next week is the knock on effect of that. I do have a little office cleaning job that I do from 6 - 8 AM but that's my only work next week. I intend to do a load of leaflet dropping and to catch up a few domestic chores but, apart from that, has anyone got any work they need a hand with next week? Obviously I wouldn't expect the same rates that I normally charge my customers direct but, having said that, I'm not so desperate that I would work for peanuts.
I'm in the Gatwick area but am not allergic to a bit of travelling if needed.

I do have hobbies but I've put them down for a while. I was getting bored with them. I will pick them up again in the next few weeks with renewed vigour.

I don't mind travel but that's a little far. If the money was right and I had accommodation and access to water maybe a change of scenery would be nice. However, I do need to be at Gatwick at the start of each day due to a little job I'm doing early morning.

Just rearranging my work to give myself a 4 day week, got loads but should be able to do it.
Life is for living and not working.

Why dont you change your routine to a four week cycle instead of six.
This will keep you working every week and of course the windows will clean that bit easier with only four weeks dirt instead of six.
Now your customers may say they dont need you that often as the windows dont get so dirty but just explain a good window cleaner keeps the windows clean always and doesnt wait till they are dirty to clean them

Thanks for the suggestion but that would be a backward step for me. I used to do most of it monthly many years ago but the "not today thanks" brigade and an excessive amount of bi-monthly work nudged me into a rethink. I went 6 weekly initially to sort the above problems out and it worked well and it took the pressure off me as I couldn't keep up at the time.
However, I eventually lost a fair bit of work over due to being unable to work for a few months. Even after that it was a reasonable 6 weeks worth. Then I switched to WFP and that vastly reduced my work hours due to getting through it much more quickly.
My preferred route is to get more work in to give myself a fuller 6 week cycle. I am acquiring more work gradually. I may lose the odd one but the gains are greater overall. Even working 4 and a bit weeks in 6, I turn over quite a bit more money than when I was at it full time, all the time.

Shiner if you spent more time marketing/canvassing than moaning on this forum you would probably have the work you require.
Your turnover and customer base have increased you say- so what are you moaning about?? Its hard graft building a business so my advice is get out there and do it.(again) ::) ::)

I think you are projecting some of your own stuff into my posts Russ.
Maybe re-read my original post and decide where, in my statement of facts, you think I am moaning.

That sounds like some sort of action plan to me. I have done some of what I set out to do at the start of the week. I won't achieve it all though as my health hasn't been so brilliant this week. I'm not moaning about that either. I accept being ill as part of life.
All I have done is state facts and sometimes pass opinions. Any emotions or feelings projected into anything I write are originating within the reader.
You wouldn't be moaning about your (incorrect) assumption about me moaning would you?
Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better today. I will be sorting out my ad for a parish magazine and going out to drop some more leaflets later on.

Hello Shiner .... i can help you get some more work as i run a canvassing service in your area...... slightly different to my competitors as i dont expect any payment til you have done the first clean.... also if any job cancels before the second clean then i offer a full refund. ;D
