Title: New one on me
Post by: Dean Aspects on September 05, 2007, 06:01:55 pm
The other day i had a customer cancel on me saying she was going to do them herself which is fair enough i thought

Then she says "yeah my mother in law read that if you use cornflour and water on your windows this gets them clean" ::)

Then she says that if she doesnt have time to do them in future would i still do them?

Without thinking i said yes as it is a quick job and i have loads of work in the area and keeps the round compact now i am thinking about that cornflour on the windows maybe i should give this a body swerve in future as i will end up with a gloopy mess everywhere

Anyone else heard of this or even any other weird way of cleaning windows

well some people think that rubbing soap onto a transparent surface is a good way of cleaning ( only turned wfp so no hard feelings ). Pure water is such a good way of cleaning, the finish is far superior to trad ( and no if's or buts its a fact! ) Luke

its a joke :) :) I still use trad on insides and akward windows, its the only way. Infact some people swear by trad and if thats what they like then good on them for not being pushed by others telling them what to do, do whatever you like as long as you come home witha bit of dosh!!!

Dont have a clue why, I am going wfp asap trad done me well for many years and I kow I will still have to do it on some houses people get up them selves thats all, do what you do and dont worry about anyone else, some earn more some alot less seems to be the ones that earn alot less with wft or trad that get the hump so what I would say to that is   WHAAAT EVVVVVVER  ;)

I'd guess that this mixture would create a very mild scrubbing method, provided it was all buffed off afterwards I'd guess you'd get the result no different to the old windowlene really.
Using newspaper is another method. Vinegar (as it's an acid) is another.
As for wfp after cornflower has been used, can't see any real problems other that a longer than normal rinse.

But what about the using cornflour on windows?
Weird eh?

I dont really see how cornflour could work, seems like an old wives tale! Luke
