Title: Help - Need a new machine.
Post by: turneylogan on September 05, 2007, 04:26:13 pm
My old Prochem Cherokee is falling to bits after four years and I want to replace. Was thinking about a Prochem Powermax or Powerplus but wondered if any of you recommend anything better (or cheaper). The key thing for me is weight. I'm about 107 years old and even find the Fisher Price Cherokee heavy to lug up and down stairs all day long. Ideally want something powerful enough to sit at the bottom of the stairs with a hose long enough to reach the whole house. I get a lot of end-of-tenancy letting agent work and so have many town houses and flats to do. Also anyone selling anything second hand?

Know someone who is about to sell a Ninja (with bits) for £700 (bargain) but they are heavier than the steempros

Hi Geriatricman

I can't really recommend a specific machine on the info given, but I would suggest 2 x 3 stage vacs with a high performance pump. That way, you won't need to drag your machine upstairs, just leave it downstairs or even outside and add extra hoses.  On this spec, 50ft would be little problem, and perhaps more. I can't remember the last time I took a machine upstairs, but I feel sure that Anthony Eden was Prime Minister at the time ;)

Safe and happy cleaning :)

on cleantalk there a guy thats got one in his van with the water tanks around it, its like a truck mount system, don't arf look good, saw scorpion at carpex the other march-o6 i think, solutions had quite an impressive stool, they were'nt giving nothing away for free though.

I went for a scorpion from a TM and ive got to say im very impressed, its very light 80 kilos or somthing, i can lift on of van reletivley easiliy, ive never took it indoors i just park it at the front door and away i go, this only thing i miss from the TM is the heat but to be honest it hasnt been a problem so far.  It has 3 3 stage vacs (the only one like it i believe) and a 500psi pump so more than enough power to do the job.  Solutions are a pleasure to do business with also so you cant loose.

Im sure there are other great machines out there and i know there are other great companies such as Hydramaster and Restormate but i can only comment on what ive used.

Never tried more than 100ft and this was fine, i also have the Hybrid Turbo which is a spotting machine and a vac booster to extend the range of the vacs should i need it.
