Title: Scorpian / Speedster
Post by: stuart_clark on August 29, 2007, 11:39:06 am
I am looking for teo high powered portables ! I have heard so many good things about the speedster but when I rang cleansmart for a price they told me they have discontinued it because it was problematic and the spares were scarce ! in fact they had to take parts off two new machines for there customers then theres the scorpian, I havn't heard a bad comment about this machine and there backup is second to none or so iam told , but this machine relly's on heat exchangers but the airflow it produces is awsome

I would appreciate views from people who own these machines

many thanks stu  Clark

If all else fails you could always ring Woodbridge for Speedster parts.

Matt is a great retailer and I recommend him but the speedster story just didn't feel right to me. There are loads of people on here who have speedsters and I'm sure we would hear a lot more about problems if there were any.

In the end I investigated things and went with the Speedster. Hope I'm nit tempting fate! ::)

You may also want to consider a 400psi Ninja if you can afford a Scorpion.

Stu , I run a Speedster if you want to try one. I too was torn between the two machines. Only had a few teething problems which Matt sorted out - internal hoses & cooling fan.

What is the real situation with the Speester?

How much of it is made up of bespoke parts?

If I rang up Woodbridge tomorrow and asked for a pump or a vac motor or a hp hose are you saying they couldn't help. Or is it more Matt has just stopped stocking them and parts.

I keep hearing this story but it doesn't make sense.

I've spoken to Matt some time ago about this as I was thinking of stocking them. He told me he was having problems obtaining spares for machines that had broken down under warranty and was having to canibalise other stock to get vac motors and pumps. I think in the end he just got sick of the hassle.
I decided not to bother.
As you say it is just a vac motor or a pump but if your supplier can't get them to you or won't it's your business that suffers.

I run a speedster which I'm very happy with , despite a few minor problems that were sorted . I might add that my last machine , prochem powermax , had more initial problems but I was happy with that also at the time.
From a distrubitors point of view however if your not getting the back up from whoever is importing the machines and its costing you money to put them right then you are going to stop dealing with them, its not a question of how good a machine it is.
I'm sure in the states theres not a problem with Mytee machines but over here it looks as though they were on the market before a real after sales structure was in place with all the backup and parts available.
I would have thought though that you could get hold of a replacement pump or vacs when needed.

Go with the Scorpion, or at least see it in action before making a decision.

Des

It’s funny you should say that, (both produce a great job) I’m also a TM’er (sad aren’t we) and use a Ninja (135psi) for the parts, which cannot be reached. ;D

Stuart

Believe Edge do a 300psi

Apart from some poor rewiring connections, when it was brought up to UK spec, my Speedster is worth its weight in platinum  8)
