Anyone got a Vauxhall Combo,Im looking at a 1.7 tdi later(W reg 60,000 miles he wants £1500 ono),will they legally hold a 400l tank.I've gone off the idea of 1000l static, and want a van that can hold 400l...that should do...also looking at a berlingo later too....
Thanks

Combo with 60000k on the clock for 1500 is good compared to a lot I've seen. even without the system in
-
Some of those old shape combo can carry 775 kg, if it is a combo 775 then it would not be a problem. The others have a limit of 565kg so a 400 litre tank would be a little bit to much by the time you added up the weight of the tank itself plus water a full fuel tank and your own weight.

You'll regret it in such a small van.
It'll handle like a banana.
I had 400L in an Escort van which is the same or greater payload.
It was wallowing all over the place and didn't want to stop. :o
Get something that can accept double what you need.
Also it allows for expansion. ;)
-
Don`t put 400ltrs in that vauxhall,it`ll handle like a boat with no rudder.
-
Dam,i'll have to hope it's the bigger payload.
Hey Squeaky......Did you see the match last night?
Lee
-
Don`t worry about the payload get another van, there rust buckets.
-
really...what about the berlingo,Im running on short time,I gotta get the van, protecta-kote it and install WFP system, ready to roll Monday!!!!!
Lee

400 ltrs in a combo seems far too much . at the most 250ltrs would be ok in a baffeld tank .
-
Berlingo is about the same as combo. Two versions one is about a 600 payload and the other is 800kg
-
Ignore the payload in these smaller vans, drive them with 400ltrs in them with your ladder and trad gear and you`ll know what i`m saying, you might aswell put a sticker on the side saying STENNA.
-
Theres to versons of the combo too one with payload of 595kg and one at 743kg
Both new shapes
-
Dave forget the payloads, just drive them with this weight in them.
-
i understand that. just saying that here is too verssions of playload someone said there is only 565kg which there isnt .

Hey Squeaky......Did you see the match last night?
??? What match?
Like NWH said, don't worry about payloads, you just don't want a big weight of water in a small van.

Quote What match?
Err dunno

So does that count out the Doblo aswell then? These all have 730KG payload right ???Also, as I said I only have £1500 worth of business at mo,with growth to come (hopefully).I know it's inevitable to go large eventually, but I am on a budget, and handed my notice in last week,so need to start Monday really :o :o

If you must go for a smaller van than get a flat tank, lower center of gravity and all that.
-
I thought all Doblos had 730 KG payload, now I see they range from 605KG to 740KG, which is gonna make buying USED more difficult!!

NWH,you haven't seen anything in your area on your travels van wise have you, anything from Fiat Doblo to Citroen Dispatch,Peugeot Expert.I've looked in Friday Ad auto Trader etc, but they move so fast :'(

If you're on a budget get a used Transit or something if you can't afford Vivaro/Trafic.
Can't go wrong with a tranny.(so Tosh tells me ;D)
-
You could go to that place on the brighton rd at wilmington,or the one just up from the golden cross pub just outside hailsham although that one looks a bit like a bomb site. The one at wilmington looks your best bet as most are around the 60000 mile mark.

Squeaky, you have dissapointed me, with your avatar and catchphrase,I thought you were a true Alan fan,but you never picked up on dialogue from 'Im Still Alan Partridge' I threw in there....You are BUSTED as an Alan loving fraud;D
Lee
-
I did actually, but a bit slow.
You meant as in "See the match last night?" when he's talking to the Waterways production team outside the pub.
Am I right? ;)
-
No, in the latest series (he's living in the static caravan) walks into his house thats being built and asks one of the builders, just before doing a 'cockney walk'....classic comedy :P

Friend of mine has a 400 liter upright tank in a Combo, seems to be fine. Not sure what the exact payload is but I think its 600-650kg. I'm not a big fan of the Combos, they seem to rust really easily. I have an S reg (1999) Peugeot Partner with a 400l flat tank in and its just right. Good van too, not a spot of rust on it and the engine is smooth as anything.
Why are payload weights so hard to find and so vague, when they're such an important figure?!
-
I dunno sheep, but i've just parted with 5 k for a combo,2002 with 21,000 on the clock,ex NHS van. I was happy until i've been reading bout the rust issues. I'm hoping 3 coats of protekta will get me thru this.
Failing that, the first sign of rust and i'll be getting shot to one of the newbies on here ;D
-
I had one a while ago and I can't say it had any rust problems. The piece above the windscreen on the old version rusts a bit but a bit of hammerite soon sorts that out. On the other hand I had a Mercedes Vito a without a doubt it was the worst vehicle I have ever owned, but I bet lots of people have got them and may well think the are the bees knees. Sometimes you just get a wrong un.
-
thats what i say mike ;) Ya can't tar all vans with the same brush. Or Hammerite them with the same brush...........You know where i'm coming from ;)
