After getting a p/x price from HydraMaster(the only people to take p/x) I thought I'd better look at the alternatives. I was attracted by Prochem's offers, having had good service from a Blazer plus previously I didn't want to dismiss them but before I could take it further I found I had to call them because the flexible hose on my Prochem stair tool failed. The conversation went something like this:
I need a replacement flexible hose for my stair tool
Ah there's 2 lengths
As it's the 30'' tool I think itwill be the 13.5''
It might not be
I'm sure it will be, can you post it out today?
We don't have one
When will you have one?
We have a shipment due in
Is this part on it?
I don't know tell you what I'll put it on backorder as soon as it arrives we'll send it to you
when will that be?
Don't know
Let me put it this way, I'm a carpet cleaner, until I get this I can't clean any stairs
I'm sure it won't be long
ok I'll get it repaired by Pirtek
Oh ok
Thanks for your help
After I'd put down the receiver I remembered that although the Blazer had been reliable, the fan belt failed once and Prochen didn't have a replacement. In the time I've owned a Hydramaster I've had replacement parts without fail the next day. Once I cracked a rocker cover, there wasn't a replacement B&S part in the country but Hydramaster took one off a used engine to get me working again, now that's service.
The big difference here is that HM realise that when our machine goes down it costs us £500 a day until it's fixed, that's what we lose, until the other TM suppliers recognise that fact Hydramaster will always lead the industry in this country.
I've placed an order now for my new machine, Guess who from? Thanks to John and team,
Well that's how important service is

why didn't you go to pirtek in the first place? and why bother with any T/M dealer for belts they are half the price at any local transmission company,
what new machine are you getting? didn't H/M offer enough partx (I see your selling it on the for sale section)
I was interested in Prochems offers but I searched the Apex on ICS forum and its supposed to be a bugg*r to do routine maintenance on.

Mike, How are you? Why are you still in exile from the rest of the TM's?!!
My local Pirtek is a 3hr trip, don't even know where I'd find a transmission dealer! That's the lakes! Cost is not an issue in these circumstances service is, when you have downtime it really doesn't matter if a belt is £5 or £15, you just need to get working again,
The point I'm trying to make is that because PC didn't have a consumable item in stock it cost them the sale of a capital item
Very Kind Regards

I forgot you'd moved to the middle of nowhere :D you need to find a transmission dealer they stock all the belts you need, I think BSL Brammer are a nationwide company.
still did'nt say what your getting?
-
Mike have you spent all of that filthy luca yet?

Thanks for the BSL Brammer link but the nearest is Barrow, another 3 hr round trip! Won't need belts for the new unit, Direct drive! :D

The onething the pees me off about Hydramaster is they use an 0870 number and therefore are charging yo a premium rate for you to give them business.
Good service but shot themselves in the foot with that one.
As a general point most truckmounts are made in the USA. The exchange rate is $2 to the £1. Discounts should not be a problem in this country, or if you can find a dealer it can be put on a boat, for I believe in the region of $1000. If I was to buy another this is the way I would go.

There's a Pirtek in Penrith, probably less than an hour from you.
