An addresed envelope with a bill saying that you have cleaned their windows, please pay x amount cheques payable to whoever ect, for my larger customers ie £50+ I put a stamp on the envelope as it means I get the cheque a bit quicker.

I couldn't be bothered with collecting! why not leave an envelope?

not sure, we've only just started really so we did the collecting thing and have just stuck to it.
most of our customers seem to be home when we clean them anyway so its ont usually a problem to need to collect - and we live local to all our work at the moment so its easy enough.

I like both of your ideas - anyone else do anything different?

Leave a note in the letter box saying we cleaned to day, then they put the money straight into our bank account (most of the time ;))

Cheers
Dave.

Hedgehog has said something sensible.  :o

If they are not in i leave an addressed envelope with the 1st line of their address on the inside & what they owe, no stamp though & most send it in about a week.

All I leave is a bill with my contact details and how to pay.  I don't collect.  I have started accepting more bill payments over the internet or via the customer's telephone banking if their bank offers that service.

I leave a bill. Under £10 I say I'll collect next time. £10 and over I leave a SAE. I also phone some customers the evening before. They leave money with neighbours, under the pot etc etc. Most of mine seem to be in so phoning only takes 15-20 mins. I see this could be unpractical in bigger rounds. I hate going collecting. I see it as work time I'm not getting paid for >:(

No you don't.  They may be able to set it up on their internet banking account if you give them your sort code and account number plus a payment reference number (I base mine on my customer's postcode).

We never do any collecting, you will find as your business grows, you will resent going out every night for a couple of hours to find people are still not in.

If people miss more than 2 payments they get sent a Statement of Account.  Of those who are out, we have about 40% pay online, the rest send cheques.

Why cant you post it for others to see.

All new customers are told that I dont collect, if they want there windows cleaned they have a choice of the following options

Leave payment in a aranged place around the back of there property.
Paypal
Sae.
No collecting for me ,its  unpaid work as far as I am concerned

There is a section for uploading documents

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?board=11.0

We've been asked on numerous occasions to provide an area for people to share documents.

Please feel feel to use this area to upload relevent images and pdf documents that others may use.

If you wish to upload any other type of document (a Microsoft Word document for example) please email it to admin@cleanitup.co.uk where it will be converted to pdf for others to use.

But only .jpg .gif and .pdf files are allowed? No word or excel files?

why not just print screen it and save it as an image file and upload it for us to see.

.Doc files can contain macro viruses so I imagine that is why they are not allowed.  In fact, I have my computer set up to open .doc files with Wordpad rather than Word in order to avoid the risk.  Not everyone will be aware of the risk though.  It is quite easy to set up a bit of web space, upload a file to it, and post the link here though.

I understand that John,.. but a PDF is much harder for someone else to edit/change to suit their needs, so I like to stick with the original Microsoft office file type. I'll stick with e-mailing for now!
