Title: perfect insides
Post by: Davew on August 22, 2007, 08:58:15 pm
Had a bit of time to spare this evening so cleaned some of my conservatory insides whilst the sun was low. I tried a microfibre glass cloth with five different spray products all of which were not supposed to smear. I couldn't get a decent result with any of them - any tips?

A CLEAN microfiber cloth dipped and soaked in pure water and squeezed out till almost dry ie damp, try that and see.

I'll try that tomorrow if the sun comes back out. I did a residential home insides too and all looked fine till the sun caught them when I drove past later. I was pretty gutted because I used microfibre then finished with a proper glass microfibre and sweated my nuts off.

One of the products contained vinegar but made little difference. Looked perfect mind with no sun. Must be a foolproof method, pure water is brilliant on the outsides. I think I could earn good money on insides too because everybody hates them mainly because they can't get them right. :-\

Can't understand why you don't do them Trad'? It's the only way to do inside glass

You might laugh but I came in straight onto wfp so haven't needed to do any trad. Think I'll start pretty soon though. :)

he's right you know, especially when all you can smell is pee and the heating is cranked up to the max, even if its a heat wave outside,

for houses with cream carpets i use unger micro rung out (pure water only) and then buff dry with a seperate unger micro one in each hand easy, never had a complaint and dont get smears in the sun.

hope it helps

That looks like a good piece of kit - looks easy to use.

I would have though using a spray for inside's would take far to long.

I have always done them with a trusty applicator and squeegie can go wrong then.

The Wagtail is a brilliant bit of kit, I have used mine for years. I can't for the life of me understand why UK suppliers don't stock them. I would buy a couple of new ones for a start. Dai

How are these wagtails meant to improve things ?

same as using a combo, soap and squeegee with same hand, but because the whole thing pivots you can squeegee faster and its much easier for a newbie to master........only my opinion.

great on a pole to, because you can still s stroke so no need to use a ladder for that work that is just out of reach.

Pure water with drop (and I do mean a drop) of Squeegee Off in it. Apply using a spray bottle or an old but clean applicator mop off the handle so its just used like a rag. Wring it out till it feels dry.

Nothing you can buy in the supermarket is any good it all smears.

Then use an Unger Microfibre cloth to dry it off . Change cloth regularly.

Recently did a big old house with real leaded windows inside and out. The insides were filthy. Had to use a toothbrush to do the corners of each square of glass. Took ages but customer was delighted with result.

Gsw, I`ve heard the Wagtail `Flipper` is a handy tool especially for Poling.
I`ve also heard when they first came out that ya can make one yourself fairly
Easily.Would you say that’s true? From the vidieos I`ve seen I can`t quite `see
It myself`.Like Dia says `Wagtails` in general are a great tool although the company
Fairly recently changed the design. To arrive in 3 days where did ya order from? Thanks
