Hi to one and all, just want to start with saying this is a fantastic site! Ok lets get down to yet another moan about the not so great yellow pages!! I decided to go for a 3/8 clmn advert to be entered into the SE London & Bromley/Bexley for 2007. I received a mock up of my advert from the so called " yellow pages artwork team" only to be shocked by the rubbish they have sent through, honestly you would not believe how poor it was! So me and my other half took it upon ourselves to design it which i think is eye catching and does excatly what i need it to do (make the custy call). We then sent the finished advert(over a month ago)via email to yell so they could amend and get ready for publishing! Hahahaha wait for this.......they have now published the SE London with the wrong freephone number(0800 000 000 instead of 0800 043 7783 and have also completley used the wrong font and layout on the Bromley/Bexley issue which just looks bloody awful but they did bother to put the correct number this time. As you can imagine all this is obviously no good to me and is very damaging to my business. They have offered me nurmerous ridiculous offers which i cannot believe they could even think that i would agree to so now i have taken this matter further and my solicitor has now taken it to there head office! Has anyone else had this kinda problem from Yellow Pages as any advice would be very welcome and grateful!
Kindest Regards
Wayne

Hi Wayne
The lesson is that you must always be in control of your marketing. its sound like you know what you wanted so why not DIY?
BTW, printers are just as bad. any media salesman will tell you about how great their media is, just ask them to prove it from an independent source.
welcome to the world of media salesman

Thankyou very much for your respectful answer! :)
They sent me proofs through which were excact to the amendments i had made but when gone to publishing both adverts are now completley wrong!
They have agreed that they are 100% responsable for the errors/mistakes!
I totally agree with you and from now on DIY is the only option, can you recommend any leaflet/advertising suppliers?
Many Thanks
Wayne

Have you used Yellow Pages before, if so you should have an idea how much you are likley to use
If you have not perhaps you have been saved and can use what would have spent plus compensation from Yellow Pages to get a better return for your expenditure.

with regards printer. again DIY.
I had two copies on lease one contact was over 10k.
I got a secondhand riso machine from eBay for just a hundred pounds. and it out performs printers and my old 10k machine. watch out many riso's are used by printers, get one thats been used by a church or school they will have had less use.

My 1 and only experience with the yellow pages is that they forgot to put my telephone number in my add. Even after they sent me a proof they still got it wrong. When I complained I had to wait several weeks for someone to call me back, when they did they agreed there was a problem so they offered me a 50% discount, the reason why they still wanted me to pay 50% of the add was because my address was still in print and I will still get work from that . My response to that was F@*K off take me to court if u want as I wont pay for a thing. I will never use these Muppets again!!!

Hi to all
Well Yellow Pages have given me a full refund and have also put me on yell.com (highlighted ad) in all areas free of charge, which i think is not a bad deal, but i would never use them again as they have been more then sloppy from start to finish! Thanks for all your replies apart from one i wont mention!
