Letzclean,
In my own opinion there really is no such thing as "Cheap Insurance".
At the moment it sounds as though you are operating without insurance to cover your domestic cleaning staff, this is actually illegal, by law you need "Employers Liability & Public Liability". If this is indeed the case, the situation needs fixing asap. If one member of your staff gets injured at work, you wouldnt have a leg to stand on at the moment, assuming that I disagreeumption is correct, of course!
Insurance is one of the many area's that unscrupulous or ill informed people can make huge savings in their costs, thus giving themselves an unfair business advantage over those who run their business in a proper and legal manner, of course, clients should check this vital matter out for themselves, but very very few, have the knowledge to ask the right questions, and it is only when something goes wrong, does the client become aware of this important issue.
To give a quick example, I recently asked for a quote from a well known broker, just covering the basics, that is, just about to comply with the letter of the law, then asked for a quote for a reasonable level of protection for both my staff and our clients, the difference between the two was over 450%!!! in the level of premium.
I dont think that this is unusual at all, many people, including some who use this board and others have been caught out, ruined floors, broken items, lost keys etc.etc.
Find yourself a specialist broker, list the entirety of your services, and most important, listen and take heed of his/her advice, after doing this, by all means shop around, but please ensure that you compare like for like.
Yes it will cost more, but you will protect, you, your business, your employee's and your clients, insurance should be regarded as a last line of protection for all concerned, and not something, that should be obtained as cheaply as possible, especially within the domestic market, as one of your staff, could quite easily, break something very valuable, and unless you have very deep pockets yourself, the cost of replacement or compensation could quite easily put you out of business, or have such an effect on your reputation, that your customer base could get up and walk right out of the door.
Regards,
Rob
