Was advised by Ashbys to day that they recommend serving of the ninja every 6 Months. Does this sound right? I would have thought that yearly would be enough.

I suppose it depends on the amount of work it does - so the question to Ashbys would be how many hours would the vacs run before needing brushes as there is not much else to service.
Personally I only use chemicals that dont leave a residue in the solution tank as (in my opinion) any solids passing through the pump might cause wear, plus I find there is very little crud in the wand jet filters.
You can check the flow rate and run a mild descaler through the system yourself.
I open up the machine every few weeks to make sure nothing is coming loose and the hoses are not rubbing as they are a snug fit between the pump and the body where the cooling fan sits.

I think the question has always been what does a service consist off.
I read on a Manufacturers site a service schedule which included changing brushes etc. but in the past no one has been able to say what Ashbys do for their service.

What may be done .............is check / replace brushes, check / convince you that the pump pressure is low and pump needs replacing / find a " dodgy " wire that needs replaced, etc.
Had you checked the brushes and found they needed replacing, you could have done so yourself and if the pump pressuse was low, it would be obvious to you.
The servicing / repairs on c/c machines is very simple.
If you clean your filters regularly, allow the motors to run for about 60 sec's when finished each job and treat it gently, all machines will last longer.
