Title: Accountant
Post by: MagicPatch on July 31, 2007, 01:33:31 am
Does anyone know of a good accountant in the Southend-on-Sea or Essex area.

I found one, but he is charging £185 per month which seems extremely high.

Many thanks.

Brian.

OK, perhaps there's no one in my area, but to answer one of my worries. Is £185 a month extemely high or is this the going rate I should expect.

Many thanks.

Hi

I pay about £400 p/y to have my accounts done.

Are you having them do payroll for you? As this would work out more expensive.

Do not know the size of your company if you are being charged £185 a month  you may have a lot of work for the accountant to do.

No payroll and the company is just me at the moment although I am quite large, but I don't think that counts as a large company.  ;D Sounds like I should be looking elswhere.

I pay £280 a YEAR.

Are you a limited company?    I''m guessing not as you need 2 people.

If its not limited, and hes not doing payroll or VAT return......hes a rip off!

I pay my accountant £200 for my tax return at end of year, thats it, he can do my payroll for £10 a week for 5 staff but I just do it myself. All my questions and our reviews are free advice along the way so long as I go with him for my final end of year tax return.

Don't know what you lot get your accountants to do for that money but mine is about £1200 per year, for that he does my end of year, submits to companies house, personal tax return, advises throughout the year and other bits and bobs.  I do my own payroll and VAT and my own month to month accounts.

I know this is a fair price as this is the second accountant I have had in four years the first charged more and obviously I got quotes in from other companies who were all much of a muchness.

While I think £185 is slightly high I wouldn't say it was horrendous depending on your turnover.

If you are on your own google "Simply Books" or give them a call on 0845-4560365 I use it and it works very well support is around £40.00 per year cheaper than an accountant ..... ;D
