Title: Fond farewell
Post by: steve k on July 29, 2007, 05:54:57 pm
Passed my medical, kit issued, training completed...3 extremely intensive training days 1:1 with training school staff to bring me back up to speed.
On Monday, I was cleaning the windows of a local school and on Friday, I was in breathing apparatus in a controlled fire to experience in operational conditions the rapid development of a fire into a Flashover situation...!!

I am now booked on shifts right through till the end of the year and start my first shift on 7/8/07.

I will not be posting as much, if at all, so I will wish you all well...good health, happiness to you all and the ones that count in your lives... ;)

all the best in our new job steve, just think steve, you will never forget wfp, every time you pull that fire hose out, you will think of window cleaning   ;D   good luck m8, hey guys could you imagine having a second hand fire engine as a van mount
the water would last for 2 weeks lol, and the raffic wardens would not bother you in town he he
heres 1 for sale, and its cheaper than a van mount  ;D ;D

Steve,

All the best mate.

I was a retained Fire Fighter for 4 years here in Louth, Lincs.

Louth is a prety busy Retained station so I had to pack it in.........to much time of my job.  I would have gone F/T but , unlike you, I didn't think I was up to the extra training involved.

But Search and rescue BA training was great fun and I went on 2 Fire behavior courses, comartment entry prosedures..............nearly boiled my ears.............too much water in gas cooling!!!!!

E-Mail me at
david@salkeld95.freeserve.co.uk

to let me know how you go on

David Salkeld

Good Luck Steve K - I wish you well in your new chosen path.

Funny how the past & present jobs had connections with hose pipes aye  ;)

Seriously, be happy, keep safe and most of all, enjoy the ride.

Good luck mate. I did a bit of firefighter training as part of my sea survival course when I was a sailor in the Army 'Honest, I was a sailor in the Army!' Anyway I know how hard it is with the B/A equipment on going into rooms with zero visibility. Good luck again mate and I hope you enjoy sitting around the station playing snooker when there is no fires to attend.
