Does anyone know what the lifespan of one of these should be?
I've had mine for about 2 1/2 years and the water is coming out about 38-40ppm before it goes through the resin. Is that normal or should be better than that?
Any thoughts
cheers

sounds like its had better days i have ans 4040 and i'm currently producing 010 out going in at 300 have you tried a booster pump?
-
mines 003 out 280 in but it vary s a lot try flushing for an hour and see if it makes any difference
I flush daily for 15 mins when i get home I just make a cup of tea then go to fill I`ve done this from
the beginning, I change the filters every 50000 ltrs or 2/3 months no matter what and use a water softener

I'll try flushing. Haven't done that for a while, keep forgeting.
Does the membrane just slowly get worse and worse or suddenly goes completely?
Mine is still taking it down from 260 odd to 38.

Mine is going in from mains @ 350 TDS. Through 2 prefilters then 40x40 membrane out @ 40 TDS. Into Resin Di out @ 001. I use a booster pump as mains pressure without it is very low.

Mine is out @ 40 TDS.
Thats pretty high for a 4040 unit

Mine's nearly 2 years old but I ran it with really low mains pressure for a year, about 25psi so I think that probably shortened it's life. I'm probably going to try a softener next before I go any further. It would be good to have one around here anyway.

Mine is 6 years old.
TDS in is about 90, just checked what is coming out and is 18, then goes through the DI down to 000.
Might Change it this time next year cos of its age.

My 4040 membrane only lasted 18 months.
I put a new one in 9 weeks ago.TDS going in 90 Going out into storage tank 0 tds Thats from the RO only.
I have been monitoring how much water is going through the system including waste,75,000 ltrs in 9 weeks. I will change the filters this week. I will change them every 10 weeks. I also use a very good Chlorine filter now, On my original membrane I did not change the filters often enough and used a basic chlorine filter.
I have my ro waste valve set up on flush all the time when filling the tank.I have been told it willprolong the life of the membrane.
