Title: Carpex (Excel)
Post by: Phil Marlor on October 10, 2004, 11:40:10 pm

Great show again this weekend, always a pleasure to meet up with everyone, Mark Betts, Andy, Clive, Bob, Mike to name but a few who I always enjoy the company of.

Thanks Mark for keeping me up until 4.30am Friday night. ;)

One thing I wasn't too pleased with was the venue, for me it was too big and cant say I like that part of London either

Would I be right in saying this will be the venue every year from now on, I prefer the previous Hotel type venue.

Looking forward to the next meet at the NEC in March.

Phil

I enjoyed Carpex hoewever as I was only there for one day I found that the stands were very busy and not all the staff new about their products.

I offered to buy little bits and bobs but on the stands I asked at I could not buy.

I agree with JB comments on sign posting if you came in at East entrance.

We arrived late due to crash on A406 therfore missed first seminar

Still not sure what type of power brush I need.

Shame there was not more demonstrations.

Sound like I am grumpy not really but would have liked to see more products working.

From the suppliers point of view the cost per square of the stand probably made it hard to demonstrate.

I think they should have been given larger spaces for same money as there was loads of room to expand  that Excel was not using which could have been made available for same price at no extra cost to Excel.

Ian

I take your points on Board as I am sure will the suppliers. In mitigation I think the suppliers were a bit aprehensive with it being a new show and were simply overwhelmed by the turnout.

The floorspace costs money (a lot) and to expand the hall would incur the traders in additional costs

Derek ,
Thank you for listening.
I acept what you say I just thought as The Excel Area was not being used to peak capacity Excel could give more space at no extra cost.

Also show was victim of own success.

where was the cross-American machine ( the recoil)? I heard it would be on show.

I enjoyed the show, it was the same companies as usual but still was nice to catch up with some familier faces.

I did notice a big lack of free samples :( I usually can stock up for the year when visiting the show, but only got some rid-o-gum, ultimate Master, Alltecs new citrus pre-spray and some leather cleaner.

I was hoping for some Solugard, Formula 90 & Blitz ;)

Looks like I'll have to wait for the NEC show

Mike,

The Recoil 3Hp was going to be at the show but Ed Valentine had other commitments and Rober McCane  decided not to attend, partly due to family problems.

On the subject of free samples, I got narry a one  :( so you did not do that badly

Hi Guys

Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

I would like to bet there are a few suppliers who had now wished they had booked a stand.

I wasent there but it sounds like a great show.  I also heard texatherm wernt there either.  Makes you wonder.

As I live in Belfast and cant just get over to ever supplier every other week it would be my main desire to attend to be able to demo all types of equipment that I was interested in buying.  This I think should be  a major consideration for two years time.

Mark

I agree... but everyone had an invite....

I am surprised we don't see Extacta at any of these shows, I am sure they would do well

I agree not used to peak capacity, but if they gave any more space they would need more cleaners, in house security etc = more money.

Did any one spot the odd man out (exhibitor but a leader in the industry) at the show?

I'll have 3 from the top and 2 from your bottom Carol! ;D

Did anyone see the 'Vibra' (steady Derek!) stair cleaning tool from Dry Fusion?

Any comments on it?
