Title: 100% nylon suite

Hi All
 Went to do quote on a 3 piece suite today did all the tests i cant see any problem cleaning it , 100% nylon similer to a draylon finish the customer turns round and tells me servicemaster have refused to clean it , Have i missed something . Are there any potential problems cleaning this sort of fabric

I can`t see any problem, I did a nylon suite yesterday and no probs, take a blower to dry as they looke sh*te wet. There will be some stains left but when dry they will fade out so don`t worry. The only thing to watch is the amount of heat you use......for obvious reasons, Regards, Geoff

Presuming that it's flocked

DO NOT USE ANY SOLVENTS.  This includes some pre-sprays that have a high solvent content.

But, there are the occasional flocked suites which MUST be Dry Cleaned only, but as far as I'm aware, these are rare and usually the more modern polyester fabrics, not nylon.

In some body contact areas, because of the oily nature of the soiling, pile can be lost upon cleaning.

Be aware of delamination in wear areas.

If the fabric is not flocked, ignore all of the above.

Open the vacuum waste gate on your tool for better drying, and towel dry to improve drying, but not aggresively.

Ken are you saying fabric restoer is a no no , and yes the fabric is flocked

Correct John, I wouldn't use Fabric Restorer. If you're familiar with using micro-splitters, that would be a safe choice.  But check first to make sure it's not a dry clean only suite (unlikely but a possibility)

The suite is 10 year old bought from M&S and is heavly soiled,  I dont think im going to get a decent resuit with microsplitters, how high do you think i could take the ph level of the prespray, now fabric restorer is out of the question

You will get an excellent result withm/s no matter how soiled it is.
Are you sure it is not a rayon mix within the fibre as if it was just a nylon flock Chemdri would not refuse it.
I have had work passed on by local Chemdri guys for suites when they are unsure of the flock or fibre mix. Make sure you price accordingly.

You Know as well as me you dont get excellent results all the time using MS, thats why you carry big tubs of blitz  enz all etc , sometimes in the real world you cant get carpets/upholstery clean as safe as we would like. I could turn this job down but ive got a morgage to pay at the end of the month, defoe no Rayon

Cleaned the suite today with Ms , got decent resuit a bit of delamination on one of the arms but i did qualify with customer before i began so no problems
another lesson learnt
