Title: Investing in flood restoration?

Is this something to invest in?
or will the goverment put things in place so it dosn't happen again?

There are no measures that could be taken to stop the might of nature.

It will take decades to improve the situation, but what has to be realised, is that much of the English terrain is at or very near sea level.

When the Romans invaded your country 2000 years ago, they made a huge impact by draining large areas of the low lying grounds ( I think part of it was known as the fenns ), but the danger of flooding has always been present and to build on such areas is criminal.

I don't remember the size of the affected area, it's a while since I was at school as a pupil. But it's an awful lot of houses.

So, there is potential, for this kind of work, but there might not be any major floods again, for a number of years and even if there are, who will get the work ?
