Title: Pressure cleaners- 13 HP or 20 HP
Post by: Kleen Machine on July 20, 2007, 10:30:31 pm
It seems that most getting into the pressure cleaning business purchase a 13 HP to do commercial work. That is fine. We sell alot to contract cleaners.

The companies that do a high volume of work purchase 18,20,24 HP Honda driven pressure washers.

The principal is that the larger machine finishes in faster time and thus more work can be done during the same time period, thus more profit.

How prevelant are the twin cylinders in the UK ?

We sell a large share of them mounted on trailers with water tanks and hose reels.

Lets hear it from the companies that have larger units, or that would like to know more about them.

Hello, you only need a 13hp m/c to outrun most domestic water supplys, I have a  kohler command 18 on my drain jetter and end up waiting ages to fill it unless theres a fire hydrant near the house

Many of my customers that have purchased equipment in the UK have set up a wheely bin as a resevoir to feed their machines. In this way if designed correctly you will attain the pressure the machine is designed for.

We often send over equipment that has over sized plumbing,
filter and shut off valve, to be able to clean the filter and easily move the machine. This is accomplished with a cam lock twist quick connect system that enables you to attach or remove from the bin easily.

I run my 13hp unit on this type of set up - you sometimes only get about 10 ltr/min on old buildings

[font=Verdana]We run 13HP  12-18 LPM honda units for 6-7 hours per run. The problem is water supply. Most homes have a low pressure 10LPM feed and frankly a machine any bigger will only empty a tank very quickly. ou are then waiting for it to fill. Standpipes are a good source of High voloume water, but nothing starts tyhe neighbours off faster than tapping into them.
