Title: HELP with tds reading
Post by: djhaydn on July 20, 2007, 07:58:17 pm
Can anyone help me with my tds readings?
just purchased a superb clean IBC tank, and have started filling it, decided to take a reading from the tank and it read 8ppm but the water coming out of the ro  and di filter, is reading 29ppm, bearing in mind the ro system has only produced about 1500 lts so far, is it because i have moved every thing, or is there a bigger problem,
your advise would be helpfull
thanks
Haydn

Morning Haydn

Are you saying that your System was ok when you installed the 300 but now the TDS is rising?

If thats whats happening I would'nt purify any more water till you get those readings down.

hi bob, sorry about this morn, we erecting a fence in haddiscoe, the system has been fine on the 300 unit, now ive moved it it has all gone t*ts up, readings out of filter are higher than what is now coming out of the tank.

the di filter is about 2ltrs.

cheers

i think after a matter of elimanation, that the resin in the DI is shagged,as its only a 10 inch vessal, the water is coming out of RO system at 22ppm and out of the di vessal at 22ppm, i will now shop for some resin,
thanks for your help....... lol

If it's a 10" DI cylinder then it's 700ml which considering you got 22 TDS going into it aint gonna last long, 1500 ltrs and you probably done ok.
what RO you got coz 22 TDS seems excessive ???

Haydn

           I would phone Andrew McCann.

After all you've only had the system for a couple of weeks. There is no way you should need to replace the resin after such a short time.

I will try and pop over on monday or even tonight.

I  think its v.possible that it needs replacing as its done 1500l, I avg about 1500l - 2000l per 750ml of resin at 8/10tds

Chris

That can't be right. Are you saying that you are changing your resin every couple of days? ???
Title: Re: HELP with tds reading

The calculations are
20000 multiplied by litres of resin, divided by TDS into resin = Litres of pure
Therefor in Chris's case....
20000 x  0.75/10 = 1500 ltr of pure

Hi guys
lets put this to rest, i phoned purefreedom and asked there advise, the answer i got was your resin is f****d, ok not quite the words he used but on the same lines, went to hugh crane and purchased some resin, changed the resin and hey presto 001ppm, so chris you were right,
bob may be getting more life out of his as he might not have as much impurities in his water so the di isnt having to clean the last bit up as much.......
Chris ............. madness were awesome, but the 2 hours getting home was a nightmare. only live 30 miles from blickling.

again cheers for your comments and help.....

Maybe i'm wrong but it sounds like you don't use a booster pump??
My readings after ro was 23ppm without booster and 8ppm without.
I've still got half a sack of resin left from march last year.

ps it's good to see some local lads on here.
