Title: Bird in the chimney - Soot

Doing a job later this week, bird flew down chimney and caused some soot to stain the beige wool mix carpet and a small part of the cream cotton sofa.
Have Ultra-pac renovate on board but can I use this on the cotton sofa as well as the carpet?
If not then what would be the best product to use?
