has anybody heard of or have any experience of the new service of cleaning accoustic ceiling tiles in offices? ???

Hi,
Its not new, Its a kind of bleach they spray up onto the ceiling, it used to be around a lot in the '80's when you were allowed to smoke anywhere.
The warning is in the word 'bleach'.
You have to protect all flooring surfaces, desks etc. If it drips it will stain.
I remember doing a bus drivers rest room with some one once. Absolutley terrible!

I also have had the said american company phone me up with this business offer. Been in cleaning 20 odd years and seen it all before. Advised my cousin against it a year or two back but they thought it sounded good , even went to states to see them, signed up , payed x amount of money .When shipment came there was a product amongst it that was uunsafe to use in this country . Eventually got their money back.
The way I see it is , as a carpet cleaner , you have all on getting commercial customers to clean the carpets which you can see without getting them to part with money to clean the ceiling that you only see if you look up.

Alltech were banding this about a few years back and I looked into it as I had a large contract with acres of acoustic tiling. When I mentioned cleaning them to the maintenance manager he said it isn't worth it as he can replace them for 70p each.

Unfortunately, the cost of tiles has rise. Fortunately, for us! Furthermore, delivery costs are high, the cost of labour, a skip or two and landfill costs are making replacement a non-runner. Re-painting is the most popular but this just seals the tile and stops sound absorbtion. Furthermore, it traps in the dirt and the paint soon starts to peel.
