Post by: lands on July 15, 2007, 10:04:33 pm
I am watching a storm the like of which I have never seen. 10 or so forks of lightning at a time and hailstones the size of brazil nuts. In the middle of July. What is going on?

I really believe that global warming is a manifestation of mans arrogance.

We are not powerful enough to influence the workings of nature.  Global warming is anti-globalisation in drag.

The science really isnt as clear cut as the red tops(and lately the rest of the media) portray.

I think i have been doing to much php today :-\

Thunder storms such as you describe are not exactly rare and they are more likely in July / August , as that is when the weather is at it's hottest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have witnessed many such storms in my 61 years, the most spectacular, about 40 years ago, in the Turnberry area of Ayrshire.

A recent programme was very enlightening about global warming.................seems it happens about every 10 k years and there is a constant release from the sea bed of gases and extreme heat, with the occassional eruption / earthquake.

There is not anything, anyone can do about it !

HI

We are in an eliptical & a circular orbit which changes every 100,000 years.

In the last 500,000 years there have been 5 global warmings and global freezings (ice ages).

Global warming is being used as an excuse to heap on more taxes, but that won't stop our orbit changing.

Although we really should stop chopping down so many trees, these are the CO2 sponges. But, then again Volcanoes spew out millions of tons of Sluphur Dioxide, a true greenhouse gas, that actually does eflect the sun back into space, the biggest preducer of CO2 are the oceans.

But, they cannot be taxed.....yet ;)
