I always wondered that!
I think if the water passes through resin it could be poisonous to fish? I could be wrong?

why does the water have to be pure ? mine never was and i used to breed tropical fish then sell them to pet shops, ph varies but pure water is not a necessesity, which rivers do you no that have a ph of 0?. none that iam aware of,if you put it through ur D i you should be ok but dnt see why you need to.

I wouldnt use it after the di cylinder, you can use and tropical fish stores do supply Ro water but in most cases it has a tds of about 10 and they ask if you want minerals added, your Ro will take the bad stuff out of the water but also strips it of the good stuff minerals ect. more info here http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=598

I have had problems with my topical tank water and lost lots of fish mainly because of high nitraite.
I always used normal water from the tap but now use my pure water (before the DI) and have had no probs at all.

I keep marine fish and corals, with these its highly recommended to use RO and DI water.
All elements needed in the tank are usually added when the salt is mixed in.
Cant really comment on fresh-water.

Was told you could only use RO water not water passed through the DI bottle.
I've never used it on my tank, just use tap water conditioner
