I picked this one up yesterday, Its a weekend retreat for a family from London and they want it done every six weeks.
I gave my price to them, and they were more than happy with the price as they thought it would have been more, what on earth do you Guy's charge in London?
I'll tell you tonight what I charged them.

I forgot to mention, I gave them a first clean price, and they are more than happy to pay the first clean price every 6 weeks, as soon as I gave the price they didn't give me a chance to say this is a first clean price and the price from now on would be £xx.
So there more than happy wth a first clean price :o

I would agree with Chris's price but would add more if I had to travel any distance to get there.

But I wanted to say something else. Did a friends house this morning , frames and facias. My usual superb job,yes, but there was something else, a very nice moment.
You know when you watch those games and the play runs so Beckham does something spectacular and it just happens that he's been practising it all week. Well imagine you are Dawson Jeff and I am Wilkinson, last few minutes of the game and the rugby world cup at stake.
On the fly post you said cellulose thinners would shift anything so I bought some (£4.99 little tin). Today after the marvelous job two panels on the front door were yellow discoloured with sun oxidation. The other panels were white so this looked unsightly.
I said I would try and bring it up. Guess what, it worked!
Good pass, great hands Jeff.

I would never recommened anything I have never tried myself, do you think it would have removed that fly poo?? ;)

And I know i'm boringly repetitive, but both you and Matt need to get a van.(I won't say any more).
Their new to the area with a R/R for him and a brand new BMW for her.
If you look in the picture their house is the one furthest away, the one nearest is one of just 2 houses in this hamlet that I haven't got, I have the whole hamlet, so I'm guessing that is why they chose me 8)
I don't want a van YET, I think my car and trailer set-up still make me look a little more pro, than the bear money brigade.
I wear a uniform, carry id, and every customer has to give me their full name and phone number, and every customer has all my contact details.
I can't see why having a van will make it more appealing than the set-up I already have.
'O' And I'm not sharing a van with Matt ;D ;D
When I next see them I will ask how much they pay in London, if they thought my price was cheap :o
I do know their home in London is worth over 3 million, so which one of you guy's have it and how much are you charging them??????

That's very impressive on a number of levels.
The job itself.
The quality of the customer and the fact that they chose you as a matter of course.
Your relaxed acceptance of the fact that you are the preferred majority choice in your area.
Compare and contrast this with me, i get complaints, i am a magnet for looney discontented customers, and I have the annoying habit of telling others how they should do things.
What it is, every since your post about your best day not long after you'd switched, i have took notice of what you say. You go into things very thoroughly, as with the preparation for the switch in terms of warning your customers and selecting equipment.
The thing about a van is that it's just better. My area is probably similar to yours, although I think I have a lot more competition. There are six window cleaners on my estate alone, and possibly another four on top of that around my actual village.This village I live in is big, about three thousand houses, and there are many other smaller villages nearby.
So far only one, yes one person has phoned me up having gotten the number off the van. This is not what i'd hoped for. However, when I talk to people about window cleaning they all say without exception, ' oh yes I've seen your van driving about the village'. For want of a more elegant way of saying it my brand recogntion for my target customers is running at about 90%.
I have had my van for two months.(has this resulted in customers no not yet)
You would be very hard pressed to do anything any better than you already do it, and i'm not saying it would transform your business. As with WFP so long as money isn't an issue it's just better.

I don't know if I could say I was the preferred W/C just the only one there ;D
Some of us get mixed up with the Term village or hamlet, the picture shows a hamlet were in this area there are only about a dozen homes, were in some of the villages I do, the amount of homes can run into thousands, and in these villages I too have a lot of competition.
These little hamlets are normally a few miles away from a village, stuck somewhere up a small lane,
I would highly recommened to anyone to search out these little hamlets, as it it more than likley they have not seen a W/C for years. if you get one house in a hamlet, I can guarantee you will pick up 95% of the homes there in a short time, go on a saturday when most of them are home.
The first hamlet I went to, was a couple of months back to do just one home, by the time I had finished the front, I had picked up 2 more, by the time I had finished the next 2, I had gained another 4,
after my third visit to this hamlet I have now picked up every single home, all be it there are only 10, there all above £15 and the highest being £60 well worth the effort for a saturdays pay.
Last saturday I could of had a cup of tea at every home if I wanted.
I came home with bampton eggs, quale eggs, even a dozen duck eggs ;D the people in hamlets are so pleased to have a W/C, I feel they will do everything they can, to keep a good W/C.
I take my time to get to know the customers, I tell them how I operate, what to expect from me and how often I clean, but above all I make sure I do a good Job and everyone is happy.
Since gaining my first hamlet, I took the time to search for more and found another 2, get your foot in the door so to speak and your in, you only need the one ;) I now keep my eye's open for small hamlets.
Clive, I will let you into a little secret ;) so long as you don't tell anyone ;D ;D maybe next year I was looking to upgrade to a van, but I don't want to do this until I have gone through my first winter and I have been wfp for a year at least.. You know me by now, I won't rush into anything until I have done my research. ;)
