Has anyone fitted a largish tank i.e 500 + into a LR 110 Defender?
I am thinking of getting in when my current van dies (in about 2 years)...have you fitted a tank into yours?
Cheers
Dave.

I've fitted a 200 litre tank into my Defender 90. It fits flush between the two raised sections on either side.

been toying with the idea, payload is certainly not a problem.
If you are getting a defender for work then go for the 90 pickup, there's no bulkhead in the 110 and I haven't worked out how to fit a tank into one safely enough yet. At the moment it looks like a custom tank job.

pictures please?

I was visiting Varitech in the week, They were fitting a landrover with a tank. They said that a custom tank was available for this vehicle in a stainless steel frame. I think the tank was a 350 ltr tank. give them a ring theyll Know the score Mike on 01626 830830.
On the same subject Carmichael fire engines were custom built landrovers with large water tanks.

I have been thinking about a landrover for some time and have found a company that refurbish's and rebuilds them...over the years I have had like many people swopped and changed motors and lets face it when do you really 'make' money on these deals...so I am thinking would it not be better to have a 'van' that will serve me for work and play and that should last me for 10 years and lets face it LR whilst having their own 'way' never go out of fashion and it is estimated that 80% of all landrovers are still in use...I am sure many people have scare stories but the main things is that I would love to have a vech that lasts me around 10 years and fits a few roles.
Have tried a yahoo search but could not find Varitech...would anyone have their website/email address....?
Here are a few pics that I found re: LR fire tenders http://www.lr-mad.co.uk/emergency.html

I have today spoke with Varitech on this subject and they do have a 300 litre tank that will fit a landrover but as far as anything else bespoke tanks are not available from them.

Hi Dave
We have fitted 750l tanks into 5 series 3 109 landrovers. These comprise of 6 125l tanks fitted together. We got these tanks from Andrews Water Treatment. They are held in place with 50x50 angle, bolted down to the chasis. This is crash tested at 50 mph (pictures available on request). If you have any questions just ask.

Thanks for the info Amanda...would love to see some pics of the tanks.
I have also noted that from Gardiners site that a 500l flat tank is
Height 620mm
Width 920mm
Length 1000mm
Cargo bed length 1900mm or 74.8 inches
Now I have from landrover the width between the wheel boxes is 925mm or 36.4 inches.....so a 500l flat tank...should ;) fit between the wheel boxes whilst still allowing for 900mm cargo bed length....please do check and do not take my word as gospel ;)
Looks like a 500liter tank it is then... ;D ;D
Dave.
