Title: Smaller but powerfull battery?
Post by: SherwoodCleaningSe on July 13, 2007, 11:47:53 pm
Just wondering if anyone is in the know.

I have a 85amp hour leisure battery in my truck powering 2 fojet pumps.  It's charged from a split charge relay, but recently has started to fail me.  I have very little room around my system it was made to measure and there isn't a millimeter to spare.  Because of this I can't take the battery out.  No joke to take the battery out I would need to take the truckman top off.

I was using the truck (double cab ford ranger) for work and pleasure but have recently brought a second car so now the leisure battery only gets charged on work days when I'm driving.  I can't run a charger to the battery in the truck as I have to street park.

My plan is to buy another deep cycle battery that I can hook up to the other battery in parralel, I will be able to remove and charge this battery each day.

But I need a VERY SMALL and high capacity 12v battery, whats the best and where is the best place to buy one?

Sorry to go on but I thought I'd give you the full storey.

Simon

prob best going for a deep cycle gel battery.  They are smaller than the lead acid batteries and just as powerful.

Just a thought about your present battery, if you can't get it out, are you checking the water level? I have had problems with my battery when the top of the plates start to show. The answer would be to get a totally sealed no maintenance one, like the ones recommended above. Dai
