I am slowly introducing WFP to as many of my customers as I think it worthwhile.
Worried because I cleaned a large house yesterday which had seagull s**t on 2 of the windows. I spent a long time on those windows washing/scrubbing/washing/scrubbing/washing/scrubbing/rinsing and thought I had got all the muck off. They certainly looked good from the ground. However, when I'd done the rest of the house I got the ladders out and went up to have a look. The glass was still dirty and stained where the s**t had been and would have looked awful from inside. I'm now worried as to how often this might happen in the future.
While I have been assessing the suitability of each house for WFP I have been surprised to discover how many will still need me to get the ladders out for the odd window (e.g. for a bedroom over a flat roof kitchen extension). Also, I do not see how it is possible to manage some windows with a pole where the length of the pole/angle of the brush to the window means that you can not properly control the brush head/get into the corners/see the bottom of the window and sill. I am assuming that other cleaners have come across this problem and have accepted that, on occasions, WFP and 'Trad' have to be combined.
Regards to everyone,
Mike.

If your converting your round from Trad to Wfp the windows will still have soap residue on the frames glass etc, usaully takes 2 even 3 cleans before they are 100% perfect just make sure you give the frame a good clean as the brush is getting into places where you couldnt before. As for the birds crap i tend to soak the crap brush over and then leave it for 2/3 mins then go back and do it again.

I agree
and combine the 2 almost every day
WFP is a tool
I assess what is best for each job.
Why spend 15 mins srubbing and rinsing , faffing about and wasting your water trying to move some stubborn bird poo, when you could be up and down the ladder with a scraper in a couple of mins ?
I've been using wfp 4 years btw, and despite what others may say it cant remove all stains from glass, thats why I'll always be keeping my trad gear and ladder on board my van.

P&R. Of course. I didn't think of leaving it for a bit and then going back to it. Obvious really. Thanks for that.
Cybersye. Glad to see someone else regularly combines the two.

You cant got 100% wfp i combine to two 75% wfp 25% trad
-
I regularly combine the two some days i do as much trad as i do wfp
depends on the job sometimes its just not worth the hassle of setting out your hose etc
although i always do upstairs with the pole
as someone has already said its another tool to be used as and when

On my round for every one I can't do with the pole there's another one I will be able to reach that I couldn't before. I will still need to use them for about 5% of my first floor work though.

I'm 100% wfp and have never (touch wood) had any problems. When I do come up against bird poo just soak it with pure water to soften it up. Carry on with the other windows and then go back to it. It always comes off easily.
The only problem I have ever had was with 1year old egg on windows. I had to get the ladders out for that and it took ages to get it perfect.

CORRECT .Bird muck contains alot of uric acid (when they eat berries and poo on upvc it stains and burns) so if you soak it for a few minutes it will come straight off.if you try and scrub it,it wont try it on your windows at home or your car screen

Im all for wfp hence why have had it for the last four years. But for gods sake when you got people saying there thinking of saying to the customer i cant do your landing window cause i cant get to it with me pole. jesus just get ya ladders off the van its only a flat roof, to me that attidude comes across not health & safety but I CANT BE ASKED. Then guys moan cause the customer drops em. Dont get me wrong i wont go up the ladder if i think its dangerous or a risk but if i refused cause of a flat roof i might aswell pack up now. Sorry if its offened ya fellas but think a majority would agree

We always keep the ladders on our vehicles as you never know when you will need them.
Bird's muck: scrub, soak, scrub, soak, scrub, soak.........it will come off eventually!
