I have been a trad window-cleaner for getting on for 9 years now and have always used Fairy as my detergent/soap.
Recently I've been looking to make a good few significant changes in how I work and how some changes might benefit me and how these could be implemented.
One of the things I felt needed addressing was the amount of soap/suds my detergent was producing and the amount of detailing I was doing.
So this week Ive tried using two different detergents, Ive tried GG3 and GG4.
So, for the record I thought I'd post my experiences, mainly as when I first started considering using them I didnt really know which one to opt for.
The water here where I am is hard, a TDS reading of 275 this week was noted.
The first solution I used was GG3 which has instructions that suggest a dilution ratio of 6ml per 5 litres.
I used R.O. water, as I felt this might aid the solution with fewer dissolved particles in it, not for cleanliness but to aid the GG3's ability to dissolve.
I found the amount suggested woefully short of what was needed, in the end I added 50ml of GG3 per 5 litres IN ADDITION to 50 ml of Fairy. I found that the GG3 just didnt allow the 'slip' usually associated with Fairy Liquid. However with the smaller dosage of Fairy added than normally used when by itself the 'slip' was adequate, though some technique alterations were required and after day two it wasn't too bad.
Adequate I guess, but nothing to get excited about.
Anyway, then I also tried GG4.
The dilution rate suggested for GG4 is 25ml per 5 litres. This is what I added for my initial attempt, in straight water from the tap, not R.O.
Wringing the sleeve out didnt seem to hold too many promises as the water didnt wring off the mop as beautifully as Fairy does, but this in hindsight wasn't a sign of things to come.
I was pleasantly surprised, at the suggested dosage and WITHOUT any Fairy my squeege was able to move across the glass as easily as it used to with the dish-washer stuff :o :o
There were no suds to report and so far minimal detailing; although admittedly the windows I did today rarely require that anyway.
CONCLUSION
I shall not be using GG3 again, it just isn't up to the job, maybe its the water round her, but too much of a struggle and why should you add Fairy to it to help the 'slip'?
The benefits of GG4 were so far, far fewer suds, hopefully less detailing, far cheaper (a litre bottle should last me 8 working weeks, so £1.00 a week...and I used to spend about £2.50 per week on Fairy). In addition, with buying it off the internet, I get to keep my receipts, instead of losing my Fairy receipts somewhere down the back of the car seat and never putting them against my tax. So an all round winner.
Im pleased anyway, maybe my experiences with these products might be of use to others on here.

less pressure on the squeegie helps with the drag problems . i find double the recommended dose of gg4 works perfectly adequetly.

I don`t care what anybody says GG3-GG4 dries your hands out worse than fairy does, everytime i think i`ll give that a go today i end up with hands like wrinkled prunes.Fairy liquid can dry your hands out but not to the extent that GG3-4 does.
