I have a customer who has dogs and requires carpets cleaned,not badly marked but smell of dogs quite noticeable. Cannot use any chemical as both husband and wife suffer from asthma.
Went today nemesis no good smell too strong,tried nemesis original(no smell) still no good,one step microsplitter no good she could still smell(odourless on bottle),chemspec ecogent no no,old bottle of allergstop no no(out of date),in fact everything I had on the van was causing an attack.
I suggested she let me do the carpets then go out for a few hours which she has agreed to do at a later date but I still need to deodorise the carpets to get rid of the dog smell any suggestions.
She has used shake n vac in the past and was rushed to hospital unable to breathe,I did notice a can of oust which seems to be ok if she leaves the room for 20 minutes or so ??? ???

Here's what you do. Get a a sprayer and stick a skull and cross bones on it. Fill it with tapwater then go in spraying.
When she gets back up off the floor, take the cap off and drink it.
Ask her how she explains that.
There may be classical conditioning at work coupled with some indirect gain for her or within the family dynamic that is possibly disfunctional.

The aroma of some of the products mentioned are less likely, IMO, to be Asthma triggers than the chemical itself. The most "dangerous" part for Madam would be the pre-vac.
I would suspect that she uses soaps, detergents, shampoos, laundry products etc. without major problems. Ask of your product manufacturer of any known Asthma problems with the product selected, and supply Madam with a Saftey Data Sheet.
I would suggest that Madam vacates the house whilst work is done or you walk. It's not worth it otherwise.

Husband rang wanted it done used nemesis wife was fine she had done the pre-vac this morning before I arrived and it seems that what triggered her attack.Even managed to deodorise using nemesis odour control.

Steve if that doesnt work try Prochems Clensan. Not much odour at all noticable,but does get rid of smells pretty good.It is a bacterial deodoriser and works over time on drying. I have found it the best to date for most neutralising.

Sell them a water filtration vacuum...............Dennis Rawlins has an excellent one, called the " Yes " vac. they are the only vacs to genuinely give " full power " all of the time and don't return micro dust to the atmosphere and into the users lungs.

I suffer mild asthma...and have never had any probs with cc chems.
Obviously, I take care, especially with non-water based chems that give off smelly vapour.
I suspect, that as Mike says, most of it is psychological.
