Title: Dhurry Rugs
Post by: benny d on June 29, 2007, 05:18:33 pm
Hi,
I am going to a lady early next week to look/clean a Dhuury rug that a dog has pooed and urined on.
There are alot of yellow urine stains on it, but it doesnt smell.

Will this rug be ok to HW clean?( Apparently its 5 meters X 3meters  :o ).  I use a Steamway Truck mount. Is there a possibility that the yellowing will come out, and what solutions do you think I will need?

I did say that I believe that the urine has dyed the fibres, which I guess is true?
Thanks for any advice
Ben

Dhurries are flat faced rugs and can have wool or cotton face yarns. Most during the last 25 years or so tend to be wool.

Rippling can be a problem, even from atmospheric moisture, and hot cleaning solutions are a greater risk than cool/warm. Blocking is the best way to resist/minimise rippling, but you can't do this on-site. Usual tests and clean both sides.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
