Title: Nationwide Price comparison
Post by: Mike 108 on June 27, 2007, 07:52:22 pm
For comparison purposes, using this example of a simple, straightforward, house front clean (trad) - please reveal:

What you would charge for the windows (and frames?)
How long it would take you
What part of the country you are in.

I'm sure it will be of great interest, and help, to all 'newbies'

Thanks.

£7.00 inc frames and quick whizz over upvc door. wfp. wolverhampton. ten minutes approx.

after the first time, i wouldn't clean above the above the glass on the "double drippers" cos it would leave nasty drips down the middle of the window.

we should do more of these comparisons   :)

Gosh!  There are some seriously fast guys out there!!  The house in the photo is my own, so I obviously do a 'perfect job' and don't need to rush - but it takes me about 30 mins (I think).  I'm going to time myself tomorrow!

Exactly what I reckon.
£6 for a front only is a good price.

You wouldn't get any more than that in South East Wales.

Unless you're "double it" Tosh.

From what is on the photo I would charge 6 quid trad, after the first clean I reckon it would take me 15 to twenty minutes. I might be quicker but trying to be honest and realistic and trying to make sure its a good job done.
I am in County Durham.

Very interesting comparison -great idea.

Ill do it for you for £6 mike, as that seems to be the going rate!!! Dont think any cleaner round here would charge more than a fiver, but you would be lucky if any would clean the frames.
Most round here would do the whole house for £6! :'(

Trad with frames would be £12.00 and I reckon 15 - 20 mins thats using a point ladder that would definitely speed you up on a job like this. I'd say £6 or £7 for the windows on there own.

I see a railing to the left of the property, hard to tell what distance it is from the house in a photo, "have we checked for being able to get correct ladder angles if it is to be trad"? I also see electric wires (or it may be shadows on the photo not sure) if it is electrical wires, "have we checked to make sure they are fully inuslated etc by the customer, so we won't be electrocuted trad or wfp"? the railing suggests a pavement or road outside "have we checked viable access trad or wfp"? As you say great for newbies as risk assessments should be carried out. If we did it Fronts only £11.75 inc vat. From arrival to departure would expect 15 mins without custie coming out for a chat. south east england

Ha!  I could go quicker but couldn't guarantee a good job then.

I don't feel thats all that fast, I do 2 houses the same as the one in the pic except they are 3 storey and I can do the fronts in less than 20mins, easy.  Prices are crap here but I can still manage over £200 on a normal day (9 to 5).  Although I wouldn't spend any time on cleaning the sills.

Title: Re: Nationwide Price comparison
Post by: Rounddevelopers on June 28, 2007, 11:38:52 pm
Just to clarify, is this price for the fronts only? if so, i dont think if  i went in cold calling  you would

be able to acheive a better price than 7-8 pounds for a regular monthly clean. The whole house

without looking at the back, taking into regard there is no conservatory would come in  14 pounds.

Through experience i know of a lot of people who would be more than happy with a fiver, 12

pounds seems unacheiveble, being realistic. Unless the customer has contacted you and is

desperate i know you will not  be able to acheive that price day in day out with your quoting.

Im out there every day canvassing and people will not swallow that pricing. You may acheive 1

out of 15 quotes if you went in at 12 pounds for the front shown in the  photos. Eddie im not sure

if you meant 15 for the whole house which seems more sensible.

       regards Steve Rounddevelopers

About 30 quid for what your looking at, trad ,no frames
60 quid for the whole house if roughly double what your seeing
100 quid for insides and outsides
Boston USA
That would be at the most quarterly , more likely twice a year and inside once

Serious Mike, But before you jump on Virgin Airlines and move out here, like I said the most likely frequency is twice a year outside , once a year inside for a grand total for the year of 160 quid
One of you lads charging 13 quid a month will make roughly the same every year off the same customer
And also it would require an appointment for the insides and probably an appointment when we do the outsides
And it's unlikely that I would have another house in the vicinity that day

Hi
In Scotland and i would charge £15.00

Wee question why do people charge different prices for the same job ie some put a wfp price less than a trad price.

If someone cut your lawn with a scythe and someone else cut it with a flymo the price is the same as you still end up with your lawn cut. Its not an hourly rate we charge but a cost of the job
Cheers

Gordon

For what you see in the pic and cleaned Trad.

If I had other houses in the street, £9 if not £12 or more depending on time taken to get to the property. A first clean price would depend on when they were last done.

A really good subject! Reading through, it all seems a bit £10ish South and anywhere between £6-8 North. Quite a difference really.

Where everyone agrees is that it's 15 mins trad and 10ish wfp.

It looks a nice house to do...I'd love to have 10 of those in the same street.
