My Ro-man R/o has generally produced tds between 9ppm and 13ppm before the resin from a tap reading of 375-400ppm.
About a month ago it crept up to about 14 and then 16. I replaced the pre- filter/sediment filter and it stayed level for a week then crept up to 18 and yesterday 20.
This evening it is at about 24 and I am wondering if the membranes are dying.
I've flushed them with no effect.
Any ideas? These membranes are just short of two years old.

membranes best to change them every two years I was told

I thought the membranes had to be changed every six months

Hi Phil - how are things? - and yes I suspect membranes too.
But not every six months, surely Wightsurf?
-
not sure of the exact ro unit i got of ro-man but it does say something about a change every six months on there i'll have a look tommorow,
-
You've done well to get that long out of the membranes if your input tds is 375-400! Flushing regularly will extend the life of any membrane but on a small membrane with high tds you can only go so far. I recommend, with that tds, changing about every 18 months.

I think you're getting confused with the pre-filters.

Malc,
Wish I could get 2 YEARS out of a membranes :o
LIMESCALE is my problem.
Only 6 months :'(

Thanks guys I'll phone cleantech right away and get some.

Checked fillters today it says, inline carbon change at 6mnths .Is that what we are talking about or am i looking at the wrong fillter.
-
Got my R/o membranes thru' today - bliss!
Now back to 9ppm!
Wightsurf - no - we're talking R/O membranes the ones that go in the white canisters on top your R/O (Ro-man) not the three/four 10" chambers that hang down.
-
I have the same problem my tds out of my R/O has shot up to 20 and like malc changed the prefilter.
So now i know i need new membranes.
I might just get a whole new R/O as my pump packed up last week.

I'm not talking about the ones at the bottom of the ro-di,its the one on top of the ro-di vessel.
One is the di vessel and the other one is what i said change at six months inline carbon.

OK - mine had two horizontal chambers (now three) on the top each with a 100gpd R/O membrane in it. Underneath hanging vertically are the two pre filters and the resin chamber.
I change the hanging down filters every six months. the resin as and when and have just changed the horizontals after two years.

Its a bit like your car, its best to change the plugs before it breaks down rather than have all the hassle when it goes wrong. The trouble is most of us are still on the steep part of the learning curve with this technology .
Just out of interest, how much was the membrane?

Just out of interest, how much was the membrane?
Each membrane is £35 from cleantech - I bought three because I also upgraded from 200gpd to 300gpd. (Add vat and p&p)

Gardiners do them for £27 + vat/del
