aint life great,
I bought my carpet cleaner of a fella I met who sold his carpet cleaning business to set up a laundry business, I met him about 14 mths into his new business and he seemed to be doing great, I bought the machine of him and over the past year we have been recommending each others services to our respective customers with great success.
Last week he phones me and asks if he can borrow the carpet cleaner to do his three piece suite, I of course lent it to him and I haven`t seen him since..........
when I went to his unit it is all closed up with the signs gone........turns out he`s gone bust.........................
and nicked my carpet cleaner............ ::)
I been told he is prob headed up north, so watch out boys there is gonna be a new company started up there soon, run by a completely unscrupulous herbert...
But hay I won`t let this turn me into a cynical old goat, and i`ll prob still lend me carpet cleaner(when I get a new one) to the next person that asks......... ;D
So any way I now need a new carpet cleaner if anyone has one for sale,
sorry for rambling a bit, but I know there is one or two people on here who will take great joy from the fact that this has happened to me and like I say, I like to please as many people as I can. so if you are one of those people, stop and think for a moment what sort of person that makes you before you criticize others. :o

Sorry to hear that. What a poo he is.
What machine was it so we can look out for it.Also it will be worth naming and shaming him on here incase he pops up around the rest of us and trys the same thing.

It is a prochem steempro max, it has two replacement 1400w 3 stage vacs in it they are not lamb originals
it has a 150 (i think) psi pump in it again not an original it has chinese writing on it.
there are no stickers on the machine and the black cover that screws on the bottom is in my lock up (and therefore not on the machine) and the foam that is usually around the exhaust vent is not there as I had taken it of and not replaced it yet.
the gasket around the collection tank door has been replaced with brown draft excluder.
it is missing one of the screws that you have to take out to lift the top half to get to the guts.
there is also a prochem heat exchanger unit with it aswell as 2 solution hoses and a vac hose all kept in a blue laundry bag
The fellas name is Mark Lewis he is bout 6`2 abit tubby, grey hair,40ish, wears glasses, drives a 54 plate merc vito van white. he has a side kick nephew called kye.

This guy will be the type that rips off the customers houses as well.

Surely you should go to the Police , because no matter where he has gone he can be tracked down.
-
selling a brand new rhino on ebay, 135 psi twin vacs just what you need as has wand and handtool included
-
The ol bill said it is a civil matter, ??? ???
I`ve searched for him on the electoral role and found a couple of family members so hopefully I should be able to track him down eventually,,,
What sort of money are you after Paul and Damian?
-
cant see how its a civil matter when he has stolen it ::) if u hire a car they are only lending it to u if u dont return it you hav stolen it
-
their view seemed to be that I lent a friend my machine and he just has not returned it, they said I would have to take it to small claims.
If he had taken with out my agreement or if there was a hire contract in place then it would be a criminal matter.
Like I started this thread, aint life great ::)

What a nobhead, if i hear anything i let you know, this kind of thing makes me sick, just becuase he cannot run a business he feels the need to drag you down with him, i hope someone gives him a good kicking.

The Theft Act 1968 Section1 (1) states that a person is guilty of theft if: he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it.
I'd say that covered your situation. Alternatively there is an offence of obtaining property by deception.

i`ll prob still lend me carpet cleaner(when I get a new one) to the next person that asks......... ;D
<cough>
Any chance of borrowing a machine? I need to do my three piece suite?
:)

On a serious note, sorry to hear what happened.
I recon the bloke will be looking to sell it quickly, (Presumably, he's short of money) so it's got to be worth keeping an eye open on ebay, as well as the various forums.
-
Well this is what is getting me, the fella is still driving about in his 56 merc vito van and his misses drives a 53 plate mx5 and I`ve just found out that before he folded the business he sold 150 grands worth of contracts to CLS, so from what I can gather he is by no means skint, at least not skint enough to still a carpet cleaner worth £800.............I am seriously puzzled ???

Do you know the registration numbers of either/both vehicles?
If so, you can apply to the DVLA, pay a small fee and find out the address of the registered keeper.
You have to specify a reason for requesting this information. You need to have "reasonable cause" for requesting the info. Something like "they keep parking on my private land" will often suffice.

I havent but I think i might be able to find out, so thanks for that ;D
-
i have two alltec portables for sale and a spotting machine if anyone is interested!
-
where are you based?
-
sent you an email Gary

How bout that then, the fella phones me today extremely apologetic says, " I done my settee then put the machine in me van and forgot I even had it"
Plus he gets no signal on his mobile where he lives(it`s a tiny village in the middle of no where)
so any way I got me machine back and he give me £20 as well and we`re still mates so it all ends well. ;D
-
Was that a "Sorry!, I got it wrong"?
Pleased it's all turned out alright, pleanty of choice on a replacement if you need one though! ;D
-
Glad you got youre money-earner back chap! I would have "persuaded" this Two hat to compensate me for loss of earnings tho ;) Although the story of neglecting to remember that the machine was in his van sounds ominous? A vito is not the largest of vans and a steempro is not the smallest of machines!! Its not like losing a bag of crisps in the driver's door bin. Still, all's well that ends well i suppose. ::)
