OK Folks,
Here goes again ::)
Right, what, in your opinion and why, would be the best option to replace my Unger poles for poles with clamps so as I can extend quicker etc. I an OK with the Ungers. Just thought it may be quicker with the clamps.
I want:
A 18' 4 section pole. If can't get 4 section the 3 AND a 12' pole
and
A 35' pole
Opinons please

As you are a big lad I would go for a Omnipole Power pole , if you get a 35ft one you can remove the sections you dont need to get to the height you require. So 1 pole will do most jobs , save you buying more than one pole

You might want to try the new xtel range, there is an 18ft 4 section (about 1kg) and the 34ft hybrid. There is a lot of choice now, you could go for a 35ft carbon facelift (about a million quid), a modular carbon pole, Tucker (very good if you don't mind the extra weight) or a 35ft carbon ecolite and an 18ft extender, both much cheaper alternatives.

Forget 2 poles.
Just get a 34ft Extel Hybrid.
Its the only pole I use now for all my work from 1st floor upwards. Its VERY easy to extend and retract. The clamps are fantastic and its telescopic with very short sections.

How much did yoU pay for yours.

Me? £399.00 all in.
Oh forgot to say I bought a 60ft Extel carbon the other day as well. Havent used it in anger yet but if its half as good as the hybrid I will be a happy man :)

Thanks Folks for you replies, keep em comin ;)
What do you think of one of these.
A 34ft X-Tel Fibre Glass Pole.
Can you take out sections with this pole?
It has 7 x 4'9" sections. I was thinking I could take out 3 sections and use it with 4 sections for normal work and pop the other 3 sections on when I have high work to do.
However is it lighter than my "Ungers" ?
And at £166 Delivery and VAT that's not a bad price
Thanks
David

Your question said most economical and i think this is misguided.
Your reasons for wanting to change are to work smarter. I think the advice given has been good.
I got a 24'fibre glass and it's too heavy for me.(because I had to have something and facelift didn't come)
IMO almost anything is okay at 18', beyond that you have to spend. I prefer my unger, and leave the bottom two sections off mostly. A lot of poles (internal tube) don't take apart that easy. I have a snazzy set of velcro attachers to retain the tube.

You cannot take sections off of the X-Tel poles.

the clamps look really easy to use. i saw this pole at the cleaning show at the nec. my only concern was the clamps looked like they may not last forever. what do you x-tel owners think?

Whats the brodex eco lite carbon poles like? Seem pretty reasonable on price??
