Title: enclosure for car valeting?
Post by: shaun_pearson on September 24, 2004, 10:29:55 am
hi guys

a friend who has his own valeting business and is based in a supermarket car park has been approached by SEPA (enviroment) and told that he is not allowed to let any water and detergent run down the drains.  They have told him that he must  wash the cars in an enclosure and pump the water out into a container. does any one know where he can buy an enclosure, i have seen one elsewhere it is basically a piece of tarpaulin with a raised edge around it. any help is appreciated and the sooner the better as he has had to stop work and just do mobile work just now.

cheers shaun

Shaun
I know it is difficult to make a crust but I am glad that SEPA are finally stepping this kind of thing up as I believe in a level playing field for all. With us in Aberdeen they are shutting down all the supermarkets and now working on the mobiles as well. By the way its a 20K fine per day so if he has just been asked to stop he has got off lightly.

Take a look these guys have an inflatable wash pad

Hope it works out for your friend

i have the same problem collecting water.

suggest to your friend that he looks at some of the waterless cleaning methods. less mess at the super market etc. also if he doesn't go down this route tell him to watch out for somebody else going to the supermarkets etc and pitching waterless before he does as if it was me as manager id go for less mess and it may be possible for you friend to market waterless as added value and add a few pounds on to cover higher costs

With regard to SEPA or EA regulations and discharge of water to surface drains

Current legislation states all wash water must fall to an impermeable wash pad with raised kerbs and then to a sealed sump

We have a solution for this both temporary and semi permanent

Please see www.morclean.co.uk
OR

We have INFLATABLE WASH PADS as well as WASH MAN floor pads and the NEW VALET CENTRE full water reclaim and pressure wash system. Or contact myself for more infore

Its for all  Iam afraid.
Its not being inforced everywhere but the law is the law.
If some one takes a dislike to you and shops you its a £20K fine.

Good Luck

Hi Ian.
You would need to suck it up into a tank.
You would require a waste carriers licence to transport it away and a consent to discharge to a foul sewer.
